Barclaycard is sending out a couple of targeted spending promotions to holders of their AAdvantage Aviator Red Mastercard. (Formerly US Airways Mastercard)
Offer 1
From July 1 through September 30, 2015, you’ll earn bonus miles when you use your AAdvantage® Aviator™ Red MasterCard® for supermarket, electronics store and drugstore purchases. Register by July 20, 2015, and you’ll earn 2 bonus miles for every $1 spent on eligible purchases that post to your account, up to 2,500 bonus miles.
You must register for the promotion with the link provided in the email. At least one reader has said you can also get this offer by calling in if you aren’t targeted.
Offer 2
When you spend $500 or more in new purchases each calendar month in July, August and September you’ll earn 15,000 bonus miles.
This is a very valuable offer and one that should be pretty easy to maximize with minimal effort.
Combine Offers?
At least one person that I know of did receive both of these offers, although not everyone will. Since supermarkets and drug stores provide a lot of spending opportunities, it should be pretty easy to maximize both of these promotions at the same time.

I called Barclay and they said the promotion is not available. They referred me to the upgrade to a Silver Aviator card promo. Hopefully, I’ll get something in the mail.

Got a 5K bonus after $1500 ($500 in Aug / Sept / Oct) promo in the mail yesterday…so looks like this is a rolling promotion…keep your eyes out 🙂
I went to the page per snail mail instructions, and do not see where to enter the promo code.

I just called Barclays to ask if they’d mailed my Aviator Red card and they said that it was on its way. I also asked about the 15,000 bonus mile offer and was told by the rep that I didn’t have to do anything to sign up for the offer – it was automatic. Not convinced, I called back a few minutes later and spoke with another rep that said the same thing – the offer was automatic. Based on comments on this thread, however, I don’t get that sense. So, I’m still a little skeptical. I’m not going to be very happy if I spend $1,500 and wait until October only to be told they made a mistake (multiple times). Anyone have any similar experiences? I did not get the offer email sent to me (heck, it apparently takes an act of Congress just to get the actual Red card sent in the mail). 🙂
If you weren’t targeted but called in to get the offer extended, consider you self very lucky. I tried but told no… they can’t extend the offer if you aren’t originally targeted for. just wait for my next luck.

Also called, mentioned this specific offer, and was not extended the offer to my account.
The rep did inform me that my card was already enrolled in a 1.5x miles earning promotion for all purchases made between March and June 2015, to be applied to my account retroactively. (Not much help to me, as I just activated my card a few weeks ago and was not aware that I was enrolled.)
An extra zero appears to have skewed the results calculation.
“When you spend $500 or more in new purchases each calendar month in July, August and September you’ll earn 15,000 bonus miles”.
3 x 500 = 1500
Jan,
The calculatian is fine. If you spend $500 per month for three months, you will earn a total of 1,500 miles for the spend. That will also qualify you for the 15,000 bonus miles, bringing the grand total to 16,500 miles earned. I hope that helps.
Understand the word “bonus”.
I called and the sense that I got was that offer #2 is scheduled to be rolled out in July but the rep couldn’t confirm that it’s “finalized” quite yet – so things could change.
Called – nothing available on my card.
