Officemax currently has an unadvertised deal for $15 off $300 or more in Mastercard gift cards. Since Office Depot does not sell Mastercards, this deal appears to be available at Officemax only.
The Deal
Save $15 instantly with the purchase of $300 or more in Mastercard gift cards from 8/2-8/8/15.
Terms
Limit 1 per household/business
Amex Offer
This deal should combine well with the recent Amex Offer, although I have had mixed success with splitting payments at Officemax.

I got some from OfficeMax last week. I tried to load them to Serve at Walmart’s register. Cancel and Change Payment buttons both displayed after I swiped my card. Cancel didn’t work at all. Change Payment allowed me to change to Debit. After I entered my PIN, my transaction was declined (I forgot the exact term). I tried this at a couple of Walmarts. Neither one has a kiosk. Is FD my only other load option?
Do you have to register each card to get a PIN number or is there a default that can be used? I am used to VGC and using the last 4 digits as the pin. Thanks
The pin number comes in the packaging. You can call the number on the card to change it if you want. You can find out more info about the pin on these cards under the U.S. Bank section here: https://frequentmiler.com/visa-gift-card-pins-and-example-uses/
Hilarious how there’s a million mastercards in stock then a quickdeal happens and all of a sudden, they’re gone within 24 hours. There’s apparently quite the readership…
Bought 4 $200 MasterCard gift cards in one transaction and was discounted $7.50 per gift card. Receipt shows I paid $192.50 per gift card.
Gone in South Austin. I don’t think they had any to begin with and did not see a sign about the promotion.
I asked the cashier about the next shipment and he said “with the way things are going we probably will not get anything in”
hummm
If it’s an instant discount, the limit of 1 per household is pretty moot, right?
I got a different, better deal at my Office Max. This store gave me $10 off each $200 card. I purchased three cards in one transaction and my total came to $590.85 ($206.95 – $10 * 3). It appeared to be hard coded as the cashier had no idea there was a deal. I asked if I could buy more and the cashier said “sure!”, so I got more with same $10 off each $200 card. Needless to say I will be going back multiple times this week.
It seems likely that you just got the normal deal twice, ie $15 off 300 since you bought $600 total.
Either way that is interesting. I will try the same tonight if any are in stock.

Worked great tonight. Had to remind the cashier to take the $15 off but between my wife and I we got $700 on our Ink cards. They only had 3 of the $200 left. Thanks for the heads up Shawn!
OfficeMax only, or also at Office depot?
Can you load these cards onto bluebird?
Yes. U just need to quickly do “Change Payment” and select debit during load
Does this ‘trick’ work at Kate? Or is this just at the cashier counter. I have issues loading the Mastercard gift cards at Kate – but have never tried this ‘trick’.
At KATE the Mastercards should load normally. I just did some today. You only need to use the trick at the normal registers.
You can also load them normally at the kiosk without having to hit “Change Payment”.
Can you load the whole $200 in one shot on kate?
Thank you!
Got ridiculous “You cannot use split tender with this purchase” from the cashier
I ran into the same issue at my local OM today.
Can you spend 600 and it will double as in the past

Officemax/amex deal dead or alive?
The Amex Offer is full. If you already registered your cards, then you can take advantage of it.
