You do not have to pay with your United card to get the above rates!

Don’t forget that United is also offering one-time 1000 bonus miles for cumulative $350 spend through September 9th (details here).
Also, via the Frequent Miler Laboratory, several people have reported that both buying and using e-gift cards from Nike results in miles earned.
In your experience, how long from time of order does it typically take Nike to send the e-gift card?
For me it took two days
[…] the United Mileage Plus portal is offering 21 miles per dollar when shopping at Nike (for Chase united cardmembers) and there are 25% coupons too – sounds like a great if you can […]
They started this last week (I had a post on it) and then it went back to 7 so it must have started up again today.
Sorry I missed your post Charlie
No, no! I wasn’t meaning anything by it! I was just mentioning that it had been and died. It is good to see it is back! Thanks for finding it!
Hi Can you share how to get miles for this step:-
-Use $175 e-gift card to buy merchandise, get 21X
Can we get miles for using the gift card??
Yes, simply click through the portal to Nike and pay for merchandise with a gift card.
Hi, Nike has United X giving 5 miles per $. United X and United shopping double dipping is definitely possible and advertised on their website…
Yep, that would be a bit safer than double dipping for 42X
Also if u haven’t used it there is an AMEX offer available.
That would be a sweet addition to this deal!
If all goes well, the following triple dip may be possible for cardholders:
-Buy $175 e-gift card, get 21X
-Use $175 e-gift card to buy merchandise, get 21X
-Earn 1000 bonus miles (assuming you haven’t already taken advantage of that portal promo)
Total miles earned: 8,350
Cost (not counting sales tax): $175
Cost per mile: 2 cents
I wouldn’t buy United miles at that price speculatively, but if you want to buy $175 worth of shoes or whatever anyway, that’s an awesome deal.
