Bill Payment service Plastiq is running another promotion where you can save by scheduling mortgage or rent payments in advance.
The Offer
Schedule 6 or more rent or mortgage payments with either your MasterCard or American Express, and lock in a lower Plastiq fee for these payments. Promotional fees are as follows:
- MasterCard = 1.75%
- American Express = 2.25%
How it Works
- The only limit is your credit card’s expiration date
- Remember to click “Set Payment Schedule” and not “Review & Pay Now”
- Schedule 6 or more payments, and schedule them as far into the future as you’d like.
- Make sure those payments are for rent or mortgage
- Use a MasterCard OR American Express
- Do it before October 31, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. PT
You can find the full terms here.

RadPad Shuts Down
This promotion may come at a good time for some who used Plastiq’s rival RadPad’s service to pay rent. RadPad sent out the following notice to users announcing they are shutting down:
As of today their rent payment service is no longer active and payment accounts will be deleted at the end of the month.
[…] had already shut down back in 2016 before restarting operations at some point later on. They offered the opportunity to pay rent with […]
[…] Additionally, through October 31, Plastiq is running a discounted promotion for paying your mortgage. Normally paying with an Amex costs 2.5%, but if you lock in 6 payments in advance, they knock the rate down to just 2.25%. You can find more details on that here. […]
I’m not seeing the promo rate show up on the review screen, after selecting more than 6 reoccurring payments. (Showing normal 2% instead of 1.75% for MasterCard.) has anyone else seen the same thing? So far, texting with customer support seems to suggest promo rate should be showing — and haven’t been able to resolve. Thanks!
[…] service Plastiq has gained popularity lately thanks to some generous promotions and how easy they make it to pay bills with a credit card. With that said, one recent development […]
Can scheduled payments be cancelled if I change my mind later?
They can be cancelled, but there is some risk that Plastiq may retroactively charge you extra for previous transactions if you didn’t complete 6 transactions before cancelling.
Do you have to schedule all six payments with the same credit card?
Yes, I believe so.
So, with the $200 sign-up bonus using the referral link, does that mean that the first almost $12,000 charged would not have any cost? Is it covering the percentage fees that they are charging for the MasterCard?
The $200 ffdd means that you can pay $200 of your bill without the transaction fee.
I liked it much better the way I interpret it, but that makes much more sense.
It sounds like your first $200 payment is fee-free (which save you a few bucks), not first $200 fee is waived. Am I correct?
Yes, that’s right
I’ve used Plastiq to pay my mortgage and rent and have had no issues. They will notify you when the check they sent is delivered and cashed. Easy way to meet spend requirement.
If you need a referral, please use my link below. You will receive $200 fee free dollars after making first payment of at least $20 through Plastiq. I will also receive $400 fee free dollar once you use my link. Thanks.
