[Expired] Transfer bonus from Citi to Hilton

Citi is out with a transfer bonus from Citi Thank You points to Hilton Honors points. With the bonus, points will transfer 1:2 (1 Citi Thank You point = 2 Citi Hilton points) from now through 9/20/17.

The Deal

• Get 2 Hilton Honors Points for every 1 Citi Thank You Point transferred

Key Terms

• Valid now through 9/20/17
• Must transfer in 1,000 point increments
• Max of 500,000 Thank You Points in a single transaction, but no limit to the number of total points you can transfer

Quick Thoughts

The normal rate is 1 Thank you Point = 1.5 Hilton Honors points. Even with the increased rate, this bonus is probably not a great value. As Greg has pointed out, Hilton Honors points are almost a fixed $0.004 in value per point — meaning that even after the transfer bonus here you are probably still going to get less than a penny a point (unless you have an excellent redemption already in mind). I think this transfer bonus promotion would be most useful if you need to top off your account for a specific award — perhaps a couple/few thousand points could get you to your chosen Hilton award stay. That said, with Hilton’s revamped points & money, you could also just pay the cash portion left over and probably do better using your Citi points for something else. It really comes down to your intended use But if you do need to transfer to Hilton, better to get the extra half a point :-).
