Earlier today, Chase released a new refer-a-friend bonus on the Chase Sapphire Reserve where you can earn bonus points for referring friends (See: Chase Sapphire Reserve referral bonus 10K per referral, 50K per year). Now, there is a new refer-a-friend offer on the Chase Marriott Rewards Visa good for 20,000 bonus points for each friend you refer who gets the card up to 100,000 bonus points per year.
The Deal
- Earn 20,000 Marriott Rewards points for each friend you refer who gets the card
- Earn up to 100,000 Marriott Rewards points per year from referrals

Quick Thoughts
This is a nice referral offer, especially considering the flexibility of converting Marriott points to SPG points or the value of 100,000 points when put towards a Marriott Travel Package. And your friend won’t make out badly either: the current offer on this card is for 80,000 points after making $3,000 in purchases in the first 3 months — and there is an additional bonus of 7,500 points for adding an authorized user and making a purchase. Note that the annual fee on this card / offer is not waived the first year.
In ongoing years, I find this card to be a keeper due to the free Category 1-5 certificate in exchange for paying the $85 annual fee. I can easily find a use for that certificate that is worth more to me than the annual fee. And now that this referral bonus has increased, I think I’m finally going to refer my wife so that we can have two back-to-back nights. While we did previously see a slightly higher offer on this card (See: Update: 107.5k Chase Marriott offer is now public – since expired), this 87.5K offer is usually as good as it gets on this card.

Does the Marriott referral bonus apply to the business card as well?
I don’t have the business card, but if you click the link in the post and enter your info it’ll either give you a referral link to share or tell you that there isn’t currently an offer for your card.

I just had bad experience with Chase Marriott card. I have excellent credit, am a life time Marriott Platinum member. I got card & was billed $3,003 in 2 mos all paid on time. I’m struggling with cancer missed the fine print about upfront $85 fee not counting (most waive first yr). I can’t talk on phone so sent several secure messages as they instructed & and denied even when I offered to spend another $3,000.
Love Marriott but I have had other associates experiencing similar happening with Chase. Ironically before this experience & their most recent promo to gain points via recommending friends I suggested this card to 160+ sales associates.
Does this offer come and go? I checked a few months ago on the Chase refer-a-friend site and Marriott, Southwest, Sapphire Preferred and Ink Business Preferred were all available to me for refer-a-friend bonuses.
A few months ago, my offer on the Marriott card was for 10K points per referral up to 50K max. Now it’s 20K/100K. That’s the change here.
Mine was 20K for Marriott, 20K for Ink BP, 10K for Sapphire and 10K for SW. I guess it differs person to person. I was able to obtain both Ink and Sapphire offers recently. Hoping to obtain Marriott soon.
