American Airlines has flights to Honolulu, Hawaii on sale from just $374 round trip out of Atlanta, Minneapolis, Salt Lake City, and Las Vegas. That looks like an attack on Delta hubs — be on the lookout for a potential fare war if Delta begins attacking American hubs.
At the moment, the $374 round trip price is pretty widely available from January through March. I can’t find flights quite that cheap through the Chase travel portal, but I do see these flights bookable from about 24,900 Ultimate Rewards round trip when using the Chase Sapphire Reserve’s 1.5cpp value. Availability is excellent overall. Here’s February from Atlanta to Honolulu:
Examples follow — click the city pairs or Google Flights images to go to Google Flights and adjust dates:
Atlanta to Honolulu from $374
Those itineraries are available through Chase for 24,906 points round trip:
Minneapolis to Honolulu from $374
Or through Chase for 25,180 Ultimate Rewards pints:
Las Vegas to Honolulu from $374
Or 24,907 Ultimate Rewards points round trip through Chase:
Salt Lake City to Maui from $374 (Honolulu is also available for the same price)
Or through Chase for 24,906 points round trip.
Bottom line
These are awesome prices for round trip travel to Hawaii — especially from Atlanta and Minneapolis. The ability to book through Chase for 25,000 points round trip — and likely earn some miles on the flight — makes this a great deal for economy class travel to Hawaii. While you could theoretically get an award ticket through Korean for the same 25K, this sale means you won’t be subject to finding Delta saver availability, which is a nice win.
