Quick Thoughts
Prime Day’s not over yet, so this new Amazon Amex Offer appears to be designed to keep the buzz going. It’s listed as 3x points, but it’s actually 2 bonus points per dollar spent in addition to your normal earnings. I don’t have the Business Blue Plus card, but if this Amex Offer’s available on that card, I’d expect it to earn 4x – 2x as standard and the 2x bonus from this offer.
This Amazon Amex Offer may or may not be targeted. Both my wife and I had it on all our Membership Rewards-earning cards, but that’s not to say that’ll be the case for everyone. Enrollment is limited though, so load this offer to your accounts ASAP as I’d imagine it’ll get maxed out quickly.
With category bonuses and fuel points, you can usually earn in excess of the equivalent value of 3x Membership Rewards when purchasing Amazon gift cards at grocery stores or office supply stores. Still, this Amex Offer’s great if you need to place an Amazon order but either can’t be bothered to leave the house to purchase Amazon gift cards or don’t have those other options available to you.

Does anyone know if this offer works for reloading your Amazon Gift Card balance?
The reason I ask is that I was about to make a purchase on Amazon with my Amex Everyday to take advantage of the 3x rewards, but then an offer popped up on my Amazon page telling me I would get a $10 gift card if I reloaded at least $100 on my Amazon balance to make my purchase. I clicked on the offer and it will let me use my Amex card to reload the balance (which is unusual, usually you have to use a checking account, etc). I looked closer at the Amex offer fine print and as you can see in the screencap above, “Excludes corporate gift card and custom-designed gift card purchases”. Just to be safe I asked Amex customer service about it, and the agent I spoke to didn’t seem really sure one way or the other. So, does anyone know?
Yes, this will work. You can use a credit card to reload your Amazon GC balance at any time, you just don’t get the bonus (2%?) that’s offered when reloading with your checking account.
The corporate gift card and custom-designed gift card purchases are something completely different, so you’ll get 3x from the transaction.

This showed on my Amex Blue for Business (but not my wife’s AU) and reading the terms makes it sound like 2 additional MR for a total 4x MR/$. Nice deal, and great timing since I did not do any Prime Day shopping until today.
