Quick Thoughts
The terms of this promotion are fairly vague, as the email from IHG only mentioned the 10,000 bonus points and the dates of the promotion. The landing page for the 10,000 bonus points rate doesn’t provide a link to any terms and conditions either.
The minimum stay of two nights is my belief of how the promotion works. That’s because when doing numerous searches for one-night stays, this was the message displayed every time:
Add on a second night though and success – the 10,000 bonus points nights show up:
A nice feature of this promotion is that the special rate to get the 10,000 bonus points doesn’t increase prices. When doing a search for identical dates but with the Best Available Rate, the nightly rate is exactly the same:
From what I can tell, this promotion is available at new IHG hotels only, rather than also being available at new to IHG hotels (i.e. properties that have rebranded from other chains). Having said that, they seem to be playing it fast and loose (in a good way) in terms of what they class as a new hotel. The screenshots above are from the Holiday Inn Bellingham WA which opened in March 2017, so it’s been open 16 months. It’d therefore be worth checking this rate before making a reservation, even if you’re not looking to stay at a hotel which only opened in the last few months.
Seeing as you’d be booking a paid rate to earn these bonus points, use a cashback portal to earn up to 8% on the reservation. Once you’ve clicked through from the portal, copy and paste the link to the promotion page in order to bring up the 10,000 bonus points rate.
This special rate will also stack with IHG’s current promo so long as your stay dates line up and you have two stays within that promotion period.

I got the same email, but the lack of details and terms/conditions made me go “eh, better not.” I know how much rewards programs like to claw back points or not give them, and not having terms and conditions is a recipe for that to happen. Which is a shame, as this promo would otherwise shift my travel to IHG for an upcoming stay.

Is there a list of these “new” hotels anywhere? I’m trying many different cities and can’t find a single property that’s available for this bonus. Most searches initially look like Kimpton hotels are, but one I click on the hotel I’m eventually told the same thing – that the property isn’t available on my dates. Expanding each calendar, all dates for the month are blocked out. Any ideas what’s making this so difficult? Thanks as always for your awesome content!
Jess I was wondering the same thing as you. I am having the same experiences
When you open the page from the email. The hotels are listed on that page. If they do not load, open the page in a different browser.
Ditto what Mario said – some of the hotels are listed on the landing page. Also, are you searching within the promotion period dates and for a minimum of two nights? I’d been having the same problem as you initially before checking stays of more than one night at a time.
The different browser helped me see the hotels they are profiling (unfortunately none match up with my travel locations), but even after always selecting two nights in various locations, nothing’s coming up. Maybe there just aren’t that many properties that qualify for this promotion. 🙁
My wife received this promo. Nowhere does it say, it has to be a 2 night stay. But I’m getting the same message you shared when I search for 1 night. It’s horrible that their promotions are not defined properly. Either call it out it or honor the promo for 1 night stay. When you search for 1 night, you get the hotels blacked out at that rate for the next 1 yr!
