American Express is offering a 30% bonus when transferring Membership Rewards to Hilton Honors by the end of March.
The Deal
- Get a 30% bonus when transferring American Express Membership Rewards to Hilton Honors.
Key Terms
- Expires March 31, 2022.
Quick Thoughts
The normal Amex to Hilton transfer ratio is 1,000:2,000, so with this 30% transfer bonus you get 2,600 Hilton Honors points for every 1,000 Membership Rewards you transfer.
That’s not very exciting, but it’s also not a terrible redemption either. Hilton frequently sells their points for 0.5cpp, so 2,600 points would cost you $13. That means you could regard it as redeeming Membership Rewards points for 1.3cpp with this transfer bonus. 1.3cpp isn’t awful, but it’s often possible to get much better value by transferring to other travel partners. It’s also possible to earn a boatload of Hilton points via welcome offers and/or spend on some of their cards, so taking advantage of this transfer bonus should probably be a last resort if those other options aren’t available to you.
Have we seen better offers in the past?
Yes – there’s been a 50% bonus in the past (i.e. 1:3), although I think that might’ve been targeted.
Good post with excellent analysis on point value, I might do it as MR are easy to get too and I LOVE Crockfords at Resorts World L.V……maybe I’ll see a Kardasian while I am there.
