(EXPIRED) 3K Membership Rewards on $150+ at Tru by Hilton [YMMV]

There is a new Amex Offer out today that is available on some cards that is good for 3,000 Membership Rewards points when you spend $150+ at Tru by Hilton properties in the US and US territories. There is likely also a $30 statement credit version. Keep in mind that this does not work with advance purchase rates. You’ll want to log in to your accounts to see which offer(s) for which you’re targeted.

Quick Thoughts

I have not personally stayed at a Tru by Hilton, though the return here would make me consider it if I had an upcoming need that Tru could fit. I’d prefer the Membership Rewards version of the offer as I value Membership Rewards more than 1c each.

Keep in mind that this one is only valid at properties in the US and US territories, so you won’t be able to use it overseas. I believe that the vast majority of Hilton properties do not sell gift cards, so I don’t think there is a way to lock in future value on this one apart from making a reservation.

Also note that this one is not valid for advance purchase rates. My basic understanding here is that Hilton advance purchase rates are processed by a different entity than rates paid at the hotel and will not trigger Amex Offers, so you’ll need to use this to pay in person at a hotel (or perhaps if you book a rate paid at the hotel that requires an advance deposit).
