Quick Thoughts
These are some useful offers if you’ll be booking paid stays at any of these brands because a stay of 2-3 nights should land you at the spending threshold for the various brands.
As always with Amex Offers for Hilton brands, note that advance purchase rates aren’t eligible because payments for those are processed differently than flexible rates. That’s because reservations for flexible rates have their payment taken by the hotel. This is a bit of an annoying quirk with Hilton because it usually means missing out on the cheapest available rate if your travel plans are unlikely to change, although with the pandemic I’m not sure if they’re even offering that many advance purchase rates right now.
All four of these offers were on my Membership Rewards-earning cards, but only the Waldorf Astoria/Conrad offer was on any of my Hilton cards. If you’re in the same position, try adding the offer(s) to your Hilton cards using the direct links above to the offers on the Amex Connect site. Despite only having the Waldorf Astoria/Conrad offer on my Hilton Surpass card, I was able to add the other three offers to that card using those links, so hopefully you’ll be able to do the same.
Two quick datapoints:
1) Does that card have 100+ offers loaded to it? If so, it should hopefully still be linked, it might just be hidden because there’s a limit on how many offers Amex displays.
2) Yep, provided it’s the hotel themselves taking payment, it triggers the offer. Having them take payment early for a non-Advance Purchase rate is therefore a great way of locking in the statement credit – glad that worked out for you inadvertently 🙂
Only 30-some offers loaded on my Aspire. Lost Embassy Suites and Doubletree both (and was halfway through Doubletree, assuming spend is cumulative). The Conrad/WA one remains, but I think that’s also the only one I didn’t add via the direct links above.
That’s really strange then, I don’t know why those would’ve disappeared. It might be worth doing an online chat with Amex just in case they somehow see the offers on their end even though they’re not displayed when you’re logged in.
Just to follow up… agent confirmed it was still attached to my card even though I can’t see it. Chalked it up to a temporary technical glitch, and said I should expect to see it again soon (but not because of anything he did, as far as I can tell). So I’ll just wait and see what happens after I stay there next month. Thanks for the help.
Great! I’m glad it seems like you’ll still get the statement credits.
Dear Frequent Miler team!
I have a question about activating Amex offers on other banks’ Amex cards (Macy’s credit card). I got my Amex Platinum card (thanks to the link on your website) on Apr 2 and activated the Hilton Double Tree offer ($45 off $225) soon after that. As you know, I then was unable to activate this same offer on any other Amex account (Delta Gold or Blue Cash Preferred). On Apr 16, I saw this same offer on my Macy’s credit card account, clicked on it out of curiosity, and it got activated. Do you think I will be able to use the offer on both Amex Pt and Macy’s cards? Is there any risk the successful activation on the Macy’s card deactivated the offer on the Amex Pt card?
Thank you for the invaluable resources on your website!
No, you should be fine using both offers. You can only load Amex Offers to one Amex card directly issued by Amex, but partner cards like Macy’s allow you to add Amex Offers too even if you’ve already added that to another card.
Thank you for your advice, Stephen!
The Conrad Waldorf offer was in the app for my Aspire card and the rest for my ancient Blue card. The links just gave error messages for my Aspire card.
Same with me. The offers showed up on my American Express card, but not on my Hilron card. What’s up with that?
Thanks for the heads up about prepaid rates not triggering the bonus. That would be pretty infuriating.
If you use the links in the post, you should be able to add the offers to your Hilton card.
That is a great trick for adding the offers to Aspire card. How do you find the offers with those links? Can you do that for all Amex offers?
You can find other Amex Offers at this link. https://www.americanexpress.com/us/network/shopping.html#All
Unfortunately not every Amex Offer gets listed there as some are targeted, but quite a few show up there.
Never on my actual, and expensive, Hilton card!
Have you tried using the direct links above? That should enable you to add them to your Hilton card.
Thanks for the tip on adding to my Hilton card. I’m always frustrated that the offers don’t show up there.
Do you think this would stack with the Aspire $250 resort credit? We have a stay at the Fort Lauderdale Conrad, and the combined $350 would be awesome if it stacked.
It hopefully would, but it might depend on how much you’re spending overall as I don’t know in which order Amex would process the credits.
If you’re spending $750 then you’ll be fine. If you’re spending less than that, if they process the $250 resort credit first then that might mean they think you haven’t reached the $500 spending threshold for the Amex Offer.
You haven’t got anything to lose though by loading the offer to your Aspire card and hopefully you’ll get $350 back.
My wife and I stayed in the DoubleTree in Hilo, HI 4 years ago; back then I had a DoubleTree offer, an any-Hilton-in-HI offer, and the resort credit, all stacked, for a $560 total credit after a single $1000 charge.
Never got any Hilton offer on my Aspire ever since.
