There is a new Amex Offer out today that’s good for $400 back when you spend $1500 or more with Carnival, Princess, Holland America Line, Seabourn, and Cunard Cruises. That could be an excellent deal for anyone planning to book a cruise. In only found this offer on business cards and have not seen a Membership Rewards version, though that would be awesome.
The Deal
- A new targeted Amex Offer is out for $400 back when you spend $1500 or more with Carnival, Princess, Holland America Line, Seabourn, and Cunard Cruises for reservations booked between 10/18/21 and 12/31/21 (despite the 10/18 start date, I only found this appearing on cards in my household today)
Key Terms
- Expires 12/31/21
- Must book on the respective cruise line’s US website or US phone number only according to offer terms
- Valid on purchases made in US dollars
- Excludes onboard purchases, transfer/transportation to the ship, gift cards, and a number of other things (see offer for full terms)
- Excludes airfare, excursions, prepaid food/beverage programs, prepaid gratuities, and things of that nature if not booked at the time of reservation (again, see the offer terms for full details)
Quick Thoughts
This looks like an excellent deal if you’ll be reserving a cruise before year’s end. We’ve recently seen other good Amex Offers from both Norwegian and Celebrity, but this is nice for those who are booking a more expensive cruise.
Note that unlike other recent Amex Offers for cruises, I do not see in the terms that you can book via a travel agent. I don’t know for sure that travel agent bookings will be excluded in practice, but other offers have explicitly noted that you could and this one suggests otherwise. YMMV.
didn’t show up on any of 3 Amex Hilton Blue cards between myself and P2. i added more offers to clear out the backlog of current offers and get that to <100. any chance it’ll show up? or if it hasn’t shown up by now, the offer won’t show up at all?
On which cards has this offer been found?
I just put a down a deposit on a cruise on Carnival yesterday using a Carnival agent. The remaining balance is $3100. I have this offer on two cards so if I split payments on these two cards should I get $400 times two? Thanks for any advice
As a part-time travel agent, I would assume (not guaranteed) that if your travel agent uses your card to pay for the reservation through the TA cruise line booking site like GoCCL, Cruisepower, etc. that it should count as that is a cruise line website like the public-facing one. Some agencies will run the card in-house though so I’d avoid that. The real killer on this deal is that it excludes much of the upfront costs like pre-paid gratuities so any cheap cruise deals may not reach the $1500 up front.
@DaninMCI – I believe you are correct, but do not have the offer on any of my cards yet. If it shows up I will be a DP for this. When my TA takes payment info from me, the charge always shows up as Princess, Cunard, etc.
Another version of Holland America is 150 back on 500.
This offer was released on October 19 — it’s not new.
I noted the Oct 18th start date. We keep a database that we update regularly. At least four times in the past week I’ve copied and pasted all of the offers on all of the Amex cards in my household into our spreadsheet and sorted to check for anything new (we upload this to our “Current Amex Offers” page) and today was the first time this offer came up on any of the cards in my household. I’m not doubting you that it came out around the Oct 18th start date, but it hadn’t shown up for us yet.
