For a limited time, British Airways has brought back the full $400 discount on paid business and first class travel for AARP members. This stacks with the 10% discount for Chase cardholders with promo code CARDOFFERU.

Quick Thoughts

Remember that anyone can join AARP — there is no age requirement. See our guide to Extreme Stacking British Airways to find out how to join for just $12 for your first year. You may also remember that the $400 discount was standard for several years. However, this year the discount decreased to $200. For a limited time, the discount has been brought back up to $400. You must book by Thursday, June 29th for travel between August 1, 2017 and January 8, 2018.

Also note that Alaska Airlines is offering big bonuses for paid business and first class travel on British Airways. See the chart below:

This means that paid business class tickets will earn 250%-350% of mileage flown before any elite status bonuses with Alaska. As an MVP Gold member, I would earn another 100% on top of that. As an example, this itinerary from San Francisco to Bucharest should earn more than 37,000 Alaska Airlines miles if I did the math correctly (note that I chose dates in September, but flights are roughly the same price in July and August):

As you can see, the total fare is $2,980. After subtracting $400 plus an additional 10% if you’re a Chase cardholder, you should be down to about $2322. For more than 14,000 miles of flying in business class plus 37,000+ Alaska Airlines miles, that’s not too bad at all. And that’s just a quick example I found using Google Flights. See our guide on how to find a great business class fare on Google Flights for more information on finding a deal. Also see our guide to Extreme Stacking British Airways for more information on getting the best possible price.

[…] $400 British Airways discount with AARP by Frequent Miler. Full discount is available again! […]

Can this be used to book travel for others — not the AARP member or the cardholder? And does the discount apply to each of multiple tickets?

The women in Bucharest are hot. Can’t believe you missed that.

Excellent find. I’m trying to find some fares on BA that fly AA metal. I’m in Zurich right now after flying a BA Business flight. BA has by far the worst business product of any major flagship carrier. My back can’t take another long haul on those seats.
