Thai Airways is offering 50% off on award tickets between Bangkok and select markets. While Thai Airways does not fly to the US, those looking to piece together their own round-the-world trip may be interested in some of these deals since Thai is a 1:1 Citi transfer partner. A round trip business class award from Copenhagen or Stockholm to Bangkok would cost just 65K with this sale. That’s about 21 hours in Thai business class for a very reasonable price.

Quick Thoughts
Keep in mind that the terms indicate to me that these tickets will be totally nonrefundable / non-changeable.
If you’re OK with that, there are some really solid deals to be had. Thai Royal Orchid Plus maintains two award charts: here’s the chart for round trip travel and here’s the chart for one-way travel (a one-way costs more than half of a round trip). Thai does add fuel surcharges, but assuming they match those on a paid ticket I would expect surcharges of $138 each way between Copenhagen or Stockholm and Bangkok (plus another ~$30 in taxes).
As you can see, when you cut those award prices in half, a trip like Copenhagen or Stockholm to Bangkok drops to 65K miles round trip or 44,500 miles one-way in business class. While Thai Airways doesn’t have the flashiest business class in the sky, I’m personally a fan. I love the service, which even includes a free 30 minute neck and shoulder or foot massage in the business class lounge in Bangkok for departing business class passengers. Maybe it’s just that I like Thai culture, food, and orchids — but I’d be happy to take advantage of this deal if I could. Those flights from Copenhagen and Stockholm are about 10.5 hours long, which seems like a steal for 32.5K each way if booking round trip and still quite solid even if you’re paying the premium for one-way travel.
If you’re planning to travel to one of the included destinations before the end of October, this could be an easy way to tack on a trip to Bangkok without spending a ton of points. Round trip economy class travel between some of the included cities and Bangkok would be just 17,500 miles, which could also be a decent deal if you don’t mind a shorter trip in economy class but prefer not to fly the local low-cost carriers.
Overall, there are some fun deals here that might make Thai Royal Orchid Plus worth consideration if this fits your travel plans.
