Turkish Airlines is running a promotion for 50% off of some economy class award tickets from Los Angeles to Istanbul. That’s a long way in economy class, but this could be a great deal if you’re looking to get to Istanbul for as few miles as possible. Note that this sale was valid for 12/15 and 12/16 only, so this deal likely only has hours remaining.

- Book: December 15 or 16, 2023
- Travel: January 16 – May 31, 2024
- Blackout dates: March 27 – April 15, 2024

Key Terms
- 50% Miles discount cities of the week: Los Angeles and Venice!
- Book tickets between 15-16 December.
- Travel between 16 January – 31 May, 2024
- Blackout Dates: between 27 March – 15 April 2024 are excluded from the scope of the promotion.
Quick Thoughts
As seen above, this promotion brings the cost of what are effectively “saver” awards down to 15,000 miles and about $89 one-way. That’s about as cheap as it gets in terms of an award from Los Angeles to Istanbul.
Note that availability is limited at the promo rate, and I saw many dates with only 1 seat available. Still, some seats had multiple seats and this could be a great deal for someone in the market for this route.
Keep in mind that you can transfer 1:1 to Turkish Miles & Smiles from Bilt Rewards, Capital One, and Citi Thank You points, so it could be pretty easy to put together the miles for an award. Turkish has a $70 cancellation fee, so keep in mind that you’ll need to pay that if plans change. I would strongly recommend finding availability before you transfer. I believe that transfers to Turkish are now instant from the major transferable currencies.
