The Hawaiian Airlines World Elite Mastercard is offering a welcome bonus of 60,000 miles. If you apply online, that bonus requires $2,000 in purchases in the first 30 days. However, Doctor of Credit notes that if you apply via paper application (distributed in-flight), you can get that same bonus on your first purchase.
The Offer
Note that this offer is for online applications. As it notes, a paper app available in-flight is reported to offer the same bonus with a single purchase.

Quick Thoughts
Hawaiian miles aren’t the most useful currency on the market for most readers, but they do fly flat bed business class to a number of destinations. You may find a use somewhere in the charts.
Actually, if you’re planning a trip to Hawaii and you intend to do some island-hopping, this bonus could work out respectably well. Inter-island award flights cost 7,500 and $5.60. Cash prices are typically just over $100 these days. The welcome bonus here will get you enough for 8 of those flights, likely saving you about $760. That’s not a bad return on $2K spend and it’s pretty good if you can get it on a single purchase (note: not as good as earning 50K or 60K AA miles with a single purchase — this offer is just a solid “not too bad / maybe decent”). You further get a free checked bag when you book with your card. I assume that applies to award flights when you pay the taxes with your Hawaiian Airlines card, which will save you a bit more on top. There are, of course, more valuable uses like Hawaii to Tahiti in business class, but for those who aren’t located in Hawaii that might make less sense.
According to comments at Doctor of Credit, you can get the 60K after 1st purchase offer via the in-flight paper application but that application does not need to be submitted in-flight. Therefore, if you know someone who is traveling on Hawaiian Airlines, they might be able to pick up a paper application for you and mail it to you. YMMV.

Had this one a few years ago and was great leaving Vegas to HNL. Any idea if Barclays has any “lifetime” or churning language? Don’t recall seeing it.
