Doctor of Credit reports that targeted mailers are going out for a 70,000 point offer on the Chase Sapphire Reserve card (after spending $4,000 in the first 3 months). While less exciting than the recent(ly expired) 100K offer on the Sapphire Preferred, this could nonetheless be a great deal for someone who wants the CSR now.

Quick Thoughts
This is only a 10K bump from the standard 60K offer, but it’s the best we’ve seen for a while on the Sapphire Reserve. Doctor of Credit reports that this 70K offer has also been available in-branch, so it may be worth checking a local branch if interested and you haven’t received the mailer offer.
Note that Chase mailers do not bypass 5/24, so if you receive an offer in the mail and are over 5/24, don’t assume that means an approval.
Whelemed.
Cap 1 /USB AR offer better SUBs, ROI on AF. With comparable/better benefits for AF.
Cancelled CSR in July 2020 despite grandfathered AF.
Chase will have to get more aggressive like they were in 2016.
Amex has made postive/negative changes – but have removed most incentives to hold multiple Plats with redundant coupons/benefits (Clear/Streaming/etc).
Cap 1 is best Ultra Prem since City National (*RIP*) .
PSA:
Found it easier to get approved
for new cards with Cap 1 by carryingg a few grand balance on a credit union CC 1.99% for a few months of reporting (keep util below 3%).
This with 800+ FICOs. As well as no new cards for 90+ days.
