80K JetBlue points on $1K spend with new card offer

Barclays and JetBlue TrueBlue are out with an offer to earn 80,000 TrueBlue points after spending $1,000 on purchases + paying the annual fee in the first 90 days. That’s a great offer for JetBlue fans and could also be a great deal for folks looking to use their JetBlue points to travel on partners like Qatar Airways.

Quick Thoughts

This is an excellent offer that can yield considerable value whether you’re using it for JetBlue flights or partner awards.

Our Reasonable Redemption Value for JetBlue TrueBlue points is 1.33c per point, pegging the value of the bonus at more than $1,000 when used toward JetBlue economy class fares. That’s a great return on just $1,000 in spend.

You might be able to do even better if you use your TrueBlue points to book Qatar Airways business class awards. Those awards start at just 70,000 JetBlue points one way in business class between the US and Doha. Getting that type of award with this bonus would represent outstanding value for spend.

On the flip side, with so many big transferable points offers on the market, it’s kind of a crowded field at the moment. I probably wouldn’t choose this offer over better offers that may be available on those transferable currency cards, but if you aren’t eligible for those, this could be an airline card worth considering given the increased bonus.

Note that the landing page for this offer prompts you to enter a phone number to continue the application by text message. However, you can simply click the “No Thanks” button to skip that step and fill out the application in your web browser if you prefer.

The “No Thanks” button takes you to the desktop application entry page.

Any idea if I can get a second one? I have one from a few years ago.

any idea how long this offer will be around? I’d like to try it for P2, but we both will be out of the country starting tomorrow for 5 weeks…what would happen if he gets approved and we don’t activate the card for over a month?

Joe
