Amex Platinum 175K referral offer is back & we need your links

6

There’s a new 175k referral offer available for the American Express Platinum card – the consumer version rather than the Business version. This targeted offer gives 175,000 Membership Rewards points on $8,000 spend in the first 6 months and is only available via referral. This is the offer you’ll find on our Best Offers page as it’s the best one out there.

We’re once again collecting reader referral links for those who were targeted so we can share them with others. The details on how to participate with your link (if you are targeted) are below.

PLEASE DON’T LEAVE REFERRAL LINKS IN THE COMMENTS – THEY’LL BE DELETED BY OUR SPAM FILTER

Quick Thoughts

This referral offer is targeted in that only some Platinum cardholders have the ability to generate a link good for it. However, the offer itself is publicly available to anyone applying through a qualifying referral link (like the one on our Platinum card page).

Those Platinum cardholders who have the ability to generate a 175k link should see it advertised in the “refer a friend” section of their login – it shows that you’ll earn 45,000 bonus points per referral (with a limit of 100,000 bonus points) and that your friend will get 175,000 bonus Membership Rewards points. If your offer shows that your friend will earn 100k points or some other amount less than 175,000 points, you’re not eligible. You’re also not eligible if you’re trying to refer from any card that isn’t the consumer Platinum card. You might sometimes see the 175k offer when referring from a different card, but those referrals never show 175k for everyone and so we can’t use them.

We want your 175k offer referral links

Here on Frequent Miler, our Best Credit Card Offers page always links to the best available welcome bonus, even if that’s not an affiliate link. Prior to this 175k offer, the Best Offer for the Amex Platinum card was via Resy which offered 100,000 bonus points plus 10x earnings at U.S. restaurants on up to $25,000 spend. The best offer through affiliate channels is for only 80,000 Membership Rewards points. That’s why you’ll see many other points and miles sites hawking that measly version.

However, we always present the offer that allows new applicants to earn the best available bonus, even when it doesn’t benefit our site through affiliate commissions. Seeing as referral earnings are limited to 100,000 points per person and that’s maxed out after just three referrals, we want to share the wealth by using readers’ referral links on the site. We need reader links for the 175k offer.

If you’d like to have your referral link shared on the Best Offers page, here’s what you need to do:

Step 1: Check your referral link

You can find your referral link here, or by logging in to your American Express account and scrolling down to the ‘Refer A Friend’ link at the bottom of the page and clicking on that. Note that you might need to change your card at the top of the referral page so that your Amex Platinum card is selected.

Before sharing your referral link, please ensure that it generates a link to the offer giving new applicants 175,000 Membership Rewards points after $8,000 in purchases. Not all Amex Platinum cardholders can generate that superior offer, so it’s worth checking first. If your referral link only shows the 175k offer when opening the referral link in certain ways or in certain browsers, your link won’t be eligible.

Step 2: Join the Frequent Miler Insiders Facebook group

If you’re already part of our Facebook group, you can skip this step. If you’re not a member though, you’ll need to join this group. Note that you’ll be asked a question or two (depending on if you try joining on mobile or desktop) to ensure you’re not a bot. Please answer that question(s), otherwise you won’t get admitted to the group in order to do step 3.

Step 3: Share your link on the dedicated thread

We have a dedicated thread set up to share your 175k link, so please leave your link as a reply to our first comment on this referral thread. We’ll then work our way through the links for as long as this increased offer is only available via referrals. We will rotate through links there regularly to try to give as many readers as possible a chance at picking up a referral bonus.

Comments on the blog with links automatically get caught in our spam filter and won’t post, so please don’t share your links in the comments here. It’ll just get deleted. Instead, that Facebook thread is the only place we’ll be accepting referral links (sorry if you’re not on Facebook).

Also, please don’t share a non-175k referral link as that’ll get deleted too. If you leave your link on the referral thread and it subsequently gets deleted by us, it’s because it either doesn’t always display the 175k offer or your link was left in the wrong place.

Tyler

I can refer friends from every other card I have EXCEPT the Amex Personal Platinum (both personal and business cards). Is that the case for anyone else?

Biggie F

Same. Surprised.

Daniel A

Mine didn’t allow me to refer until I paid the second year annual fee. And then the referral offers were terrible for the other side.

Tyler

Hmm, I’ve had mine for about 5 years.

Bana

Why? Lol

Tyler

Because I can get more than the annual fee in benefits, I spend about $30k a year directly with airlines for my job so get 5x on that, and I think it helps my profile with Amex as I keep getting offered more and more Business Golds/Platinums despite canceling them after a year every time.
