Loganair is a regional, Scottish-based airline with routes throughout the UK, Ireland, Denmark, and Norway. They operate smaller planes and fly to some relatively isolated destinations like the Shetland Islands, Orkney Islands, and the Hebrides. None of their flights are more than a couple of hours, but they can be quite pricey, sometimes $500+.
Scottish carrier Loganair recently joined the Avios program and has a unique award chart…all flights are 6,500 Avios one-way. Doesn’t matter what the origin or destination is; if it’s a non-stop, the price is 6,500 Avios, and if there are two legs, it’s 13,000 Avios. This can make some of the more expensive flights an excellent value…and it’s just become even better.
Until June 10th, all Loganair redemptions are 50% off through the end of their published schedule. That means that any flight in the route network that has an award seat available is only 3,250 Avios per leg. Combine that with the current 30% transfer bonus from Amex Membership Rewards to British Airways (and thus to Loganair) and you can score some pretty amazing deals for only 2,500 Membership Rewards points per flight.
That’s an amazing deal. (h/t: Head for Points)

The Deal
- Get 50% off any available Loganair flight award redemption.
- Must book by June 10th
- Travel must be June 23rd through the end of schedule
How to transfer Avios between British Airways and Loganair
Before you can move points around, you’ll need to open an account with each program.
Important! Make sure to enter all of your personal information (name, email, birth date, address, phone) exactly the same way with each program.
Avios.com is now what British Airways uses to transfer Avios to/from Finnair, Loganair and Qatar (as well as non-travel partners Nectar and BP). It’s also used to link your accounts with those programs.
You can either log into BA.com or Avios.com. If signing directly into Avios.com, make sure to use your British Airways credentials. Once you sign-in, click this link to get to the Combine my Avios page, or click “move Avios” from the menu on the right-hand side by your account balance.
You’ll be sent to this page:
From there, you can move Avios to any of the programs shown. If you haven’t already linked your account, you’ll be prompted to before moving points.
Loganair Loyalty Award Cancellation Rules
All Loganair award tickets are non-refundable, but changes are allowed for date, time, or route, provided the Avios required remain the same. If a reward ticket is not used or cancelled, Avios will be forfeited, but airport tax refunds may be available (admin fee may apply).
How to book flights with Loganair Loyalty
In order to book a Loganair award flight, you simply log-in to the website, check the box that says “spend Avios,” and search for availability.
Quick Thoughts
Loganair is by far the most simple Avios program when it comes to booking award flights, as all awards cost the same: 6,500 Avios. There is no variance based on distance or cost. If there are two legs involved, each leg prices separately and the total cost will be 13,000 Avios. This can be an excellent deal for some routes, like London to the Shetland Islands. I believe that Inter-Orkney Island flights aren’t able to be booked with Avios, but most of the rest are.
To get 50% off over the Summer during an Avios transfer bonus makes this a stellar deal. Here’s an example from London Heathrow to Sumburgh in the Shetland Islands. The cash rate for the direct flight starts at ~$375 one-way (at current exchange rates):
However, that same flight is available during this sale for 3,250 Avios and ~$45 in taxes:
Another example is this flight in the middle of July from Newcastle to the beautiful Norwegian port of Bergen, Norway. If you pay cash, it’s ~$300 one-way
But using Avios during the sale, it’s 3,250 Avios and ~ $60 in fees:
Loganair’s route map is very specialized, to be sure, but many of its destinations are magnificent places that can be quite spendy to get to from Scotland, England or Wales. To be able to grab these flights for as little as 2,500 Amex points is amazing, giving value that we normally only see for business class redemptions. You could spend a couple of weeks hopping all over Scotland, the Orkneys, Shetlands and/or Hebrides and still easily stay under 20,000-25,000 points.
Flights have to be booked by June 10th and can’t be cancelled, so if you’re going to be in the UK this Summer (or want to be), it’s worth taking a look to see if anything suits you.

Is the Papa Westray PPW — Westray WRY flight (world’s shortest) blocked from award flights?
I’ve checked a few dates, and they’re all sold out.
I believe so. Like I mentioned in the post, I don’t think that any Inter-Orkney flights are available via award redemptions. My understanding is that it’s because the those routes are subsidized by the government.
Thanks! I just saw this deal and knew about that route, so I started clicking, but could only get as far as Kirkwall. I didn’t make the Inter-Orkney connection.
Yeah, I hear ya. It’s a bummer that those flights aren’t available.
Why not count the taxes in your calculations at all? 20-25k in flights will also have more than $500 in taxes on top
This looks like it should be a Pepper post. Sleeping in the job?
