Qatar business class open from US – Doha starting in August 2026

Qatar Airways will be restarting service from Philadelphia to Doha this August, which has caused a decent bit of business class availability to open up between August of this year and through Spring, 2027. Flights to Doha can be had for 70,000 Avios one-way and, even better, Citi currently has a 30% transfer bonus to Qatar, bringing the cost down to ~58k ThankYou Points each way.

Many days have 2 seats available, and I was able to find connecting itineraries to popular destinations such as the Seychelles, the Maldives, and even South Africa. (h/t: Dan’s Deals)

A word of caution: there’s a war on in the Middle East right now. While flights have been operating into and out of Doha, strikes at airports and airspace restrictions have stranded passengers for varying lengths of time. We obviously have no idea what the situation will be by August/September, let alone next year. It’s essential to keep an eye on developments if you decide to book tickets.
Not a bad way to have to fly halfway around the world

The Deal

  • Fly Qatar Airways business class from Philadelphia to Doha (and beyond) for as low as 70,000 Avios one-way between August 2026 and May 2027
    • Prices to Doha range from 70,000 to 94,500 Avios, plus ~$200-$250 in surcharges each way (use qatarairways.com)
    • Prices beyond Doha start at 75k Avios one-way, and will add $50-$100+ to the surcharges
    • Many days have 2 seats available
    • Citi ThankYou points transfer directly to Qatar, and are now offering a 30% transfer bonus for flights starting as low as ~58K ThankYou Points one-way
    • Avios can also be transferred from other Avios programs to Qatar (see how here).

Quick Thoughts

Qatar will be flying the A350 between Doha and PHL. Many of those aircraft have Qatar’s sought-after Qsuites (pictured above), but some also have the older, lie-flat seats with direct aisle access. If the seat map shows seating at four across, it’s the older seats. If they are staggered, it’s Qsuites.

When Qatar drops a bunch of availability, we can usually book flights to destinations beyond Doha. That’s possible via Qatar’s own program right now, but the additional taxes & fees make it more expensive. I wasn’t able to find the same connecting itineraries when searching through British Airways, and even the non-stop space isn’t showing via partners like American AAdvantage or Atmos Rewards.

This availability most likely won’t last long, so book it ASAP if you find dates and routing that work for you.

My wife Erin and my first big journey together went around the world in 100 days for our honeymoon, a trip in which I had one car accident and got one speeding ticket in every country that we visited (I think that I may still have an arrest warrant in New Zealand for an unpaid ticket, but we’ll keep that between us). We currently live in Washington State; we own a winery, ski after work and hike as much as our elderly knees will let us.
