There are currently some incredibly enticing fares available in Aer Lingus business class bookable on the Alaska Airlines website. Round trip non-stop business class tickets from Manchester, England to New York City are available from as low as $1,049, while round trip tickets from Dublin to New York (via Manchester) are bookable from as low as $912.

Quick Thoughts
Round trip business class tickets for ~$1,000 between the UK and US are very rare, if for no other reason than the UK’s Air Passenger Duty would make up a significant portion of the cost. Despite that, there appears to be a lot of availability at these pricing levels.
There are a couple of key factors to consider though. One is that flights have to originate in Manchester, England or Dublin, Ireland in order to get such low pricing – originating in New York City sadly doesn’t work.
While that means this opportunity might not initially seem very attractive, it could still be useful to marry together two separate trips. For example, let’s say you’re interested in visiting Europe later this year and then again at some point later this year or next year. You could book a one way flight from the US to the UK (or anywhere else in Europe for that matter), then return to New York out of Manchester. You’d then fly back to Manchester on whichever date you book the return leg for, then all you need to do is book a one way trip back to the US from wherever you end up in Europe.
The other factor to consider is that these low business class fares are only showing on the Alaska Airlines website. I’m not seeing the pricing reflected in Google Flights, nor through travel portals like Amex Travel. That’s a shame because it means you can’t do something like take advantage of the 35% points rebate on bookings with an Amex Business Platinum card.
This sale is very tempting for me because Manchester is now my closest major airport as it’s only a 2.5 hour drive away rather than a 5 hour drive to Heathrow. I’m struggling to make an upcoming trip align with uncertain future plans though, so I think I’m going to have to sit this one out.
If crediting the flights to Alaska Airlines, you’ll earn 250% of the mileage which will be ~8,350 Mileage Plan miles each way, so a total of ~16,700 miles round trip. You’ll also earn 250% EQMs (Elite Qualifying Miles); with MVP status starting at 20,000 EQMs, just this one round trip flight should get you more than three-quarters of the way there.

For those how were following along, I can see the proper menus and displays for the calendar search in EDGE and Chrome- Mozilla and safari must not work although the are supposedly supported by AS – HOWEVER, both only display my desired/preferred monthly grid view when searching with miles, selecting money only shows me the range of dates across the top in standard search result format and then I have to sort & search those by price.
In any event, I only see $2100 RT cash and 45k each way partner miles (on BA and AA, not Aer Lingus), so I assume that I missed the chance at these!

I have searched the internet and cannot see how to display the Alaska calendar/ search by month 1- at all on my fon and 2- to select business instead of economy.
Full disclosure, I’m working from my fon and haven’t tried/ won’t have access for awhile to a desktop, but I don’t see how to do this in safari mobile and the app doesn’t support calendar searches.
Or maybe I’m just too old to work the technology….

I don’t have a fon with safari, but if you search “view desktop version of website on safari” in your search engine of choice then you’ll find an abundance of answers. After figuring it out, this may require you to zoom in to see what you want on the calendar and/or search by month while on your fon.
P.S. Fon is an interesting way to spell your device, and I don’t dislike it.
I have searched and the screen shots on the AS help page do t match what I see in safari or Mozilla (and like I said, no calendar search in the app. All I see is the same display as any other search- half a domes says either side of my search, no calendar view.
I have selected flexible, but the drop down menses do not match the screenshots and I don’t get the option to see a whole month at a time- AND, I have to open a date or stretch the view to landscap to see the business process as well as coach for each individual date.
I can’t be the only one- AS help says bothe browsers are supported…
I want to look for dates for these fares!

Southwest WiFi crashed before I could edit they typos- “half a dozen dates” on either side of me search across the top but no option to select calendar view

How do you think this squares with UA Mileage Plus earnings as this is operated by Aer Lingus UK which is EG, not EI?
I mean…could you just cancel the return leg once you get home? Not that I would ever consider something so unethical 😉
Shhhhhhhhh. I booked 4 round trips a few weeks ago. It’s a mistake in the algorithm as it’s mispriced on AS and. Not On Aer Lingus. Your article is gonna have them pull it.
Well if it’s a mistake fare then I’m surprised if it has been alive for a few weeks, but I don’t mind either way because I took advantage of what I could now. Thanks Stephen for posting this amazing deal. I sure hope my tickets will be honoured.

Yeah there’s not much secrecy around mistake fares anymore (with the exception maybe of some of the convoluted fuel dump flight plans). Though I’ll give that a few weeks is a lengthy time for something like this to survive.
I’m not sure it’s a mistake fare. I took advantage of a similiar fare on the Alaska site Rome-US, in my case Seattle, and that stayed around for a few months. And it kinda looked like it ended because all the seats in the fare bucket were filled, not because it was pulled.
