Frontier Airlines has launched a promotion that allows any Southwest Rapid Rewards, JetBlue TrueBlue, Spirit Airlines Free Spirit, or Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan customer to upgrade to Frontier Gold status through the remainder of 2026 for only $69.
Frontier ran a similar promo earlier this year that targeted only Southwest Rapid Rewards members for just $40. However, that version only provided status through the remainder of 2025. This one gets you Gold through 2025 AND 2026, arguably the better deal, despite the increased price tag.
There is a requirement that you need to have been a member of one of those programs before today in order to be eligible for the promo. That’s still a pretty wide net.
Frontier Gold is a non-trivial status that provides free seat selection, carry-on bags, and seat upgrades. That alone might be worth more than $69 for anyone flying Frontier a couple of times over the next year and a half.
The Deal
- For a limited time, members of four different airline programs can get over a year of Frontier Elite Gold Status for $69.
- Applies to members of Southwest Rapid Rewards, JetBlue TrueBlue, Spirit Airlines Free Spirit, or Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan.
- Status will be awarded within 24-48 hours of request.
- Matched status will be valid through December 31, 2026
- No expiry listed, but the offer can end at any time
- There is no fast track to renewing Frontier Gold status provided through the promotion.
Terms and Conditions

- The FRONTIER Miles Elite Gold Status offer is valid for purchase for a limited time. The offer may change or be withdrawn at any time, including but not limited to the fees and validity period.
- The Instant FRONTIER Miles Elite Gold Status offer provides eligible and approved members Frontier Elite Gold Status through December 31, 2026.
- Once your FRONTIER Miles account has been upgraded to Elite Gold Status, no refunds are permitted under this offer.
- The upgrade to the member account will be processed within 24-48 hours.
- Members must use the same email address associated within their FRONTIER Miles account to apply for on the Elite Gold Status offer.
- Purchasing this offer will not extend any existing Frontier Elite Status.
- Members who have previously done a Status Match are eligible for this offer if they meet the criteria.
Quick Thoughts
Frontier Gold is actually a significant status with several useful benefits, including:
- A free carry-on bag
- Zone 1 Priority Boarding
- Free preferred seat selection
- Eligibility for complimentary upgrades to premium seating at the time of check-in and UpFront seating four hours prior to departure
Even if you were just taking a couple of Frontier flights between now and the end of 2026, getting a free carry-on and seat selection might be worth the $69 by itself. If you’re going to be flying Frontier multiple times, this promo is almost a no-brainer.

I have a family of 4, if I buy this status for me and my wife. How will seat assignment work for kids? Will the airline be forced to assign a seat for the kid with a ‘Gold’ status parent?
This didn’t work for me or my wife. We both did the recent southwest match, and now when I try to do this one, even using a different airline, I get a message that says, “this member number has a pending or approved application in the system. It will be processed shortly. “
I would email them. Maybe it is actually pending.
I did the $40 status match when SWA started making their changes. I’ve use it now a few times and find it very useful. Getting a carry-on and seat selection is huge especially since you get to choose extra legroom seats 4hrs prior.
If you buy tickets at the airport, the CIC fee is waived (up to $23) making it incredibly cheap. You could get short-haul flights for as little as $25.
Gold status essentially gets you Economy Bundle perks except for the waived change and cancel fees.
My A-list membership in Southwest is set to expire at the end of November. Could I match to Frontier Elite Gold now, and then will SW accept my Frontier Elite Gold status come November to match back to A-list? I think SW at one point accepted Frontier status but don’t know if they still do. Also, if they don’t take Frontier directly, are there any other airlines that Frontier can match to, that I can then match to Southwest?
I would also like to know. Didn’t know SW status matched.
Me as well
I would think you would be able to do it as long as you have not status matched with Southwest in the last 12 months.
That is what their terms say.
Per the press release (posted on Frontier’s site) you can buy status until September 9. Also, Frontier has been recently restricting its cheapest fares exclusively to Discount Den customers, and pricing the Economy Bundle and basic fare the same to non-Discount Den. I think this makes sense, since if you buy Discount Den you probably are more Frontier-familiar than the random person who has never flown Frontier and will be surprised by the bag size checker at the entrance. However, if the economy bundle and the basic fare are the same, and you don’t fly enough to pay the $100 for Discount Den, then the only value of status is the added mile earning and the availability to reserve a seat at the front. Also, Frontier will always have lower frequencies than other airlines. I’ve used my $40 status for one round trip since I got it.
Data point:
I was approved practically instantly.
I was told 24 hours, but when I checked my email almost immediately after, I received the approval email.
Would the Gold Status effectively make the Base Fares “normal fares”? Or does it not apply to the base fares? I tried to Google and the results were extremely unclear. The value to me as an infrequent traveler with the family hinge entirely on it.
If you get the Frontier Gold status, could that be used to match to other airlines for status with them?
Potentially. Depends on the terms of the other airline’s status match – often matched/complimentary status is ineligible for matches but that’s not always the case / isn’t always enforced.
I plan to take the $69 gamble since I have two statuses expiring at the end of this year, and I am hoping that I am able to renew them in a status match in 2026.
Only time will tell if this gamble works out.
So I took their $40 status match earlier this year. A no-brainer for me. I would love to give then $29 to continue it for another year, but I’m guessing that’s impossible. Could I now add 2026 for $69? If so, I wonder if I should take that offer or wait a few months. Not critical for me to have Frontier status, but useful.
