Thrifty Traveler has uncovered an incredible sale when using Delta SkyMiles to book round-trip flights between New York and Dublin, Ireland. We’re seeing prices start at 22,000 miles round trip during winter months. With a Delta SkyMiles credit card, you’ll get a 15% discount, meaning that you’ll pay fewer than 19,000 miles and $47 in taxes to fly round trip to Dublin. That’s an incredible deal for those looking to fly in economy class during off-peak months, though note that these are Basic Economy fares. Even if Ireland isn’t your final intended destination, this could be a great deal to get across the pond before picking up a cheap connection elsewhere.
As you can see above, round trip pricing in November 2025 starts at just 22,000 miles. Again, that is a round trip price for flights from New York to Dublin, Ireland. If you have a qualifying Delta SkyMiles credit card, you get a 15% discount on award tickets, which means you’ll pay just 18,700 miles round trip. Considering the fact that taxes & fees amount to less than $50 round trip, this is a great deal.
Keep in mind that these are Basic Economy fares. Delta makes that sneaky these days, initially advertising the price as “Delta Main”.
However, when you select Delta Main, it then gives you the option to choose Basic Economy (for the advertised price) or full economy (for much more).
Still, if you don’t mind the Basic Economy restrictions, it is hard to beat 11K each way (or less than 10K each way for cardholders).
The best pricing is in November, but you’ll still find reasonable pricing (starting at 26K) through the rest of the winter and into spring (April/May).
Personally, I wouldn’t recommend Ireland in January. I went at that time of year and didn’t get the same experience that people report during the warmer months. However, your mileage may vary. And you might even book this as a way across the pond with the intent to book a cheap intra-European flight to get to another destination (perhaps for skiing or holiday markets).
Again, keep in mind the limitations of booking basic economy, but for those who are happy to do so, this is a great deal.

I would be happy enough paying 42K roundtrip in regular economy to avoid those basic economy restrictions. Still pretty cheap!
Wait, how much does it cost again? Must’ve missed it with you only reminding me every single paragraph that it’s 22,000 miles round trip, under $50 in taxes, and a 15% discount with the Delta SkyMiles card… oh, and Basic Economy.
I went to Dublin in January and had a nice time, but i set my expectations accordingly: there were significantly less crowds, and the weather was no worse than any other places in Northern Europe or in Seattle — rainy and above-freezing. But maybe i’m weird, in that i actually enjoy traveling in Europe in January and February, so take it w/ a grain of salt!
I enjoy Spain in February.
