Earlier today, we reported new 80K offers out on the Hawaiian Airlines consumer credit cards. Within that post, I noted that Hawaiian cardholders will earn 1 status point per $3 spent on their cards, just as is the case with most of the Alaska Airlines credit cards. In fact, that benefit began earlier this year, with Hawaiian cardholders earning 1 elite qualifying mile per $3 spent (which will become status points after October 1st). I recently realized that I couldn’t find my Hawaiian EQM (elite qualifying miles) balance. It turns out, Hawaiian only displays it in your email.
I had noticed months ago that despite having spent several thousand dollars on one of my Hawaiian Airlines credit cards, my Hawaiian Airlines account was showing no progresss at all toward Hawaiian Airlines elite status.
That didn’t make sense to me as I should have earned a few thousand EQMs based on spend I’ve done.
My Hawaiian account does show redeemable Hawaiian miles earned from my Hawaiian Airlines credit card spend, but no EQMs.
I had long intended to reach out to someone about this, but I wasn’t sure which side to contact. I figured that Barclays was likely to tell me that they just report spend to Hawaiian and it is up to Hawaiian to award the status points, but then I figured that a phone agent wouldn’t likely know why these weren’t showing up.
Then, last week, I pulled the Hawaiian Airlines website and found a link to chat with customer support. The support agent told me that I should sign up for email alerts of my Hawaiian Miles mileage statement. I replied that wasn’t the problem, I get the emails, but my Hawaiian Miles account shows 0 status miles despite having earned miles from credit card spend. The chat agent proceeded to copy and paste part of the same response she had given before, once again telling me that Hawaiian would start tracking EQMs from spend on March 1st (which was about 6 months ago) and to sign up for email statements to see it.
I started to get a little frustrated, thinking that the agent wasn’t understanding my problem. However, I went to my email just to make sure that I do in fact get the email statements. Then I went to a recent monthly Hawaiian Miles statement — and sure enough, if you scroll down, the email statement does indeed show how much you’ve spent cumulatively this year and how many EQMs you’ve earned.
Even though my Hawaiian account at the Hawaiian Airlines website shows 0 EQMs when I log in on desktop or in the app, sure enough, the emailed monthly airline loyalty program mileage statement accurately shows my balance of EQMs. and the amount I’ve spent on Hawaiian Airlines credit cards. I stood corrected and apologiezd / thanked that chat agent!
Moral of the story: yes, your Hawaiian Airlines credit card spend is earning Elite Qualifying Miles that will become status points when the official Atmos relaunch happens next month. To see your balance, check your monthly email statement.

Great tip! But I can’t seem to find where to sign up for the mileage statement emails? Looked everywhere in the HA account.

Do you get status points with the Hawaiian business card? I’m guessing not because my email statement still shows nothing
I think it’s supposed to, but I too haven’t seen anything. Below is the description from it. It almost eludes to spend only on the Personal card, but at the bottom says you must be the primary cardmember of a slew of cards, including the business card. So who knows.
But when looking at the Barclay’s Business website, it does state that spend on the business card qualifies. https://cards.barclaycardus.com/banking/cards/hawaiian-airlines-world-elite-business-mastercard/
Great insight! I had some large spend on the Hawaiian card – but got an unexpected large REFUND as well from a different transaction. I know any miles earned will be reversed, but do you have any indication of whether the EQM’s that were already earned from the spend will be “clawed back” ? I assume not- but wondering if you have any data points or educated guesses on this. Thanks!
