Free 6,000 points for some targeted Virgin Atlantic Flying Club members

3

Virgin Red appears to be targeting some Virgin Atlantic Flying Club members with an offer to get 6,000 free points by simply logging in to their Virgin Red account (or creating one) and then entering a personalized promo code. A reader in our Frequent Miler Insiders Facebook group reported a targeted email this morning with the subject line, “London is calling, and this time it’s on us“. I didn’t receive this email, but my wife did. She had an existing Virgin Atlantic Flying Club account, but had not signed up for Virgin Red. My best guess is that this is targeted to folks who have a Virgin Atlantic account but not Virgin Red. It may be further geographically-targeted, but I can’t say for sure.

The Deal

  • Virgin Red is offering targeted customers 6,000 bonus points when they link their Virgin Red and Virgin Atlantic Flying Club accounts and enter a unique promo code.

Key Terms

  • 6,000 bonus points offer is only available to Virgin Red members who redeem their promo code before 11:59pm on September 30, 2025.
  • Promo Codes can only be used once and together with the resulting Virgin Points are non-refundable, non-transferable and cannot be resold. Once you have entered your promo code, your Virgin Points should be credited to your Virgin Red account within 1 day.
  • The offer is as stated and there is no cash alternative available.

Quick Thoughts

This offer might seem confusing on the surface for those unfamiliar with Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Red.

Virgin Atlantic Flying Club is the loyalty program of the airline, Virgin Atlantic.

Virgin Red is the wider Virgin loyalty program that includes Virgin Voyages (cruises), Virgin Limited Edition properties (like Necker Island and lodges in Europe and Africa), Virgin Hotels, and more.

If you have only ever earned and redeemed miles with the airline, you may not have a Virgin Red account. However, when you open a free Virgin Red account, you can link it to your Virgin Atlantic Flying Club account and seamlessly see and use your total Virgin Points balance through either program.

My educated guess is that this promotion has been launched for customers who have a Virgin Atlantic account but not a Virgin Red account. I would have further guessed that it may have been targeted to those who reside in the New York, Boston, or Washington, DC areas (and perhaps Cancun?) since those markets have awards to London for 6,000 points one-way (and the email suggests that it is offering a trip to London “on them”). However, the reader who initially reported receiving this does not live in or near a market served by Virgin (and my wife was targeted despite being more than 150 miles from JFK airport), so this may be more widely available than I’d have expected.

That said, Greg has a family member who does not have linked Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Red accounts and still did not receive this promotional email, so it is anybody’s guess as to who will get it and who will not.

If you did get the email, you’ll find a unique promo code near the bottom of the email. You need to create a Virgin Red account and link it to Virgin Atlantic (simply click the “Claim points” button in the email and it will take you to Virgin Red). Then, go to the icon in the top right and click “Promo code” to get to the field where you enter it.

As soon as my wife entered the code and clicked the button to submit it, she received confirmation that it had gone through and the 6,000 points were immediately added to her Virgin Red account.

That’s obviously a great deal for those targeted. Even if you only valued Virgin Points at 1 cent per point, this is a free $60 worth of miles. However, as I have recently highlighted, Virgin Atlantic has some compelling economy and premium economy class redemption opportunities with flights to London from 6,000 points and ~$110 from some east coast markets, premium economy to London from 10,500 points and ~$240, and economy class flights to destinations as far as South Africa and India for just 12,000 points plus taxes and fees. And that’s to say nothing of the great value you can sometimes get for intra-European travel on Air France and KLM.

Suffice it to say that this is a great little bonus to grab in exchange for a few clicks of the mouse and taps of the keyboard. If you’re targeted, I’d take advantage of it right away. While the offer says that it ends September 30th, and one would reasonably expect an offer with a unique promo code one would be honored, but I wouldn’t chance that it gets pulled early.

Got this in 2024 but it was only 4,000 points then. Should have waited!

Thanks! Claimed my 6,000 points. I had a Virgin Atlantic, but no Virgin Red account.

Thank you for posting! I would have completely disregarded the email otherwise 🙂 I’m also on the West Coast and got it, which is great.
