Earlier this morning, we shared the news that Capital One has added three more transfer partners: Japan Airlines (JAL), Qatar Airways, and Preferred Hotels.
Japan Airlines transfers are sadly not on a 1:1 basis, instead transferring at a 2:1.5 rate. However, for the next month it is possible to transfer on an almost 1:1 basis courtesy of a 30% transfer bonus.

The Deal
- Get a 30% bonus when transferring Capital One miles to Japan Airlines Mileage Bank.
Key Terms
- Expires October 22, 2025 at 11:59pm ET.
Quick Thoughts
Transferring Capital One miles on a 2:1.5 basis could still get you a decent value redemption, but having the opportunity to improve that ratio for the next month makes it an ever better potential option.
The 30% bonus means that the ratio improves to 2:1.95 (i.e. almost 1:1). We don’t know yet how quickly transfers will take place; hopefully it’s be instantly (or near instantly), so please let us know of any data points you have now that transfers are live.
Be aware that in order to redeem JAL miles, your Mileage Bank account has to have been open at least seven days. You can still transfer Capital One miles in the meantime; you just won’t be able to redeem them before that week-long period is up. If you don’t have a JAL account, I’d therefore recommend getting one set up now to get that clock going, even if you’re not planning on transferring any miles in any time soon.
Nick will be publishing a post tonight sharing some JAL sweet spots, so keep an eye out for that.

According to this
Does that mean a JAL account older than 7 days but less than 60 days would be able to immediately redeem an award?
Yes, if you transfer in Capital One miles, you should be able to redeem those immediately in this scenario.
Please some other Banks add JAL. Is this going to lead to a reduction of partner award space?
Transfer was instant on the 1000 miles I tested on a new JAL account. It does say 60 days though before they can be redeemed.
That’s the case normally, but for Capital One (and Bilt) transfers, that’s been reduced to 7 days for new members.
I’m hoping that is the case, and I transferred the miles from C1 because I’m not sure how they do correlation, if any, but I figured miles sourced from C1 would trigger something on my account if they are.
Can confirm, instant transfer, 2 week old account
Where are you getting the info that JAL accounts have a seven day waiting period? The account I just created says 60 days
It was in the press release from Capital One. When JAL became a Bilt transfer partner, they obtained a carveout that Bilt transfers in could be redeemed within 7 days for a new account; Capital One appears to have done the same thing.
