Quick Thoughts
My wife was targeted with an offer that would be nice and easy to complete if she needed to fly United in the next couple of months: take one flight costing $100 before taxes & fees and earn 3,000 bonus miles.
I’m a little jealous of her offer because I need to book a United flight for a couple of weeks time. I was targeted for my own Mile Play challenge, but my task is a tad more onerous and slightly less rewarding: take two trips that each cost $225+ before taxes & fees to earn 2,500 bonus miles. Spending $225+ on my trip won’t be a problem; it’s just a little annoying that I need to take two flights to qualify for the bonus MileagePlus miles because barring unforeseen travel, I’m not planning on flying United again this year.
Even if you’re not planning any flights, it’s always worth checking if you’re targeted for Mile Play promos. There’s been at least one occasion in the past where some MileagePlus members were given Mile Play tasks that didn’t include any flight requirements, such as buying a gift card in the MileagePlus X app.

Yes I had to blink a few times to make sure I was seeing it correctly.
I have no UA status but am taking an already booked one way J award back from Europe near month end, not that it helps.

No offer for me. I did get one last round (although wasn’t able to use it).
Two trips, min $100, for 4500 miles. It might work out for me as I may need to fly to PIT and back at the beginning of Dec. UA and AA are about equally good options, so 4500 miles could swing the decision.
