Capital One has launched a limited-time transfer bonus when transferring Capital One Miles to British Airways Avios: through November 21, 2025 at 11:59pm Eastern Time, get a 20% bonus. Keep in mind that you can move Avios from British Airways to other Avios-based airlines (like Qatar, Finnair, Iberia, and Aer Lingus), so even though this bonus only shows up to British Airways, it can be leveraged in many different ways.

Quick Thoughts
While this offer isn’t as generous as the transfer bonuses we commonly see to Avios programs from American Express Membership Rewards or Chase Ultimate Rewards, this offer could certainly still be useful if you are flush with Capital One miles.
Avios is a rare exception in the miles world. In most cases, it isn’t possible to move your miles from one airline to another. Avios is different: Avios can be moved freely between British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus, Finnair, Qatar Airways, and Loganair. That gives you access to a wide range of sweet spot uses, from Iberia business class to/from Europe from 34,000 Avios one-way to Finnair Avios for short-distance American Airlines flights, to Qatar for better access to Qsuites awards, and a lot more. Again, we often see bonuses of 30% or sometimes as high as 40% from other transferable points systems to Avios. I wouldn’t recommend transferring speculatively to Avios, particularly if you also have points in other transferable currency ecosystems. However, if you have more Capital One miles than you do points in other ecosystems and you are confident that you’ll put the bonus Avios to good use, this could make sense.
Best uses of British Airways Avios
- Business class to Europe from 34K one-way via Iberia. This is one of our favorite Avios redemptions. Iberia charges as few as 34K miles off-peak for one-way in business class on its own flights from New York, Boston, Chicago, or DC to Madrid during off-peak season. The fuel surcharges are quite reasonable and they also run seasonal promotions (usually during the Winter) where the prices drop down even further.
- Business class South America from 22K one-way via British Airways. Availability can be tricky to find. But when you can find it, BA has excellent pricing for shorter distance non-stop American Airlines award flights.
- Long Haul Business Class on Qatar Airways. After Qatar's addition to Avios, BA lowered many of their award prices on Qatar. It's now possible to travel between the United States and Doha in business for only 70,000 Avios with minimal surcharges.
Things to know about British Airways Avios
- Avios Purchases are processed by Points.com and DO NOT count as airfare.
- Avios can be easily transferred between Aer Lingus, Iberia, Finnair, Qatar and British Airways
- Avios expire after 36 months of no activity
- British Airways has near-extortionate fuel surcharges when flying on BA metal. It's best to keep Avios for use with partners or the Iberia Plus
