In a really unfortunate development, Mesa Homeowners Rewards credit card customers are receiving an email stating that their cards are being closed, effectively immediately. A message on the Mesa website indicates that all Mesa Homeowners Card accounts are closed. All credit cards have been deactivated as of 12/12/25. This is obviously terrible news and really frustrating for cardholders. At the time of writing, it is still possible to redeem points for a custom statement credit. That’s poor value, but getting poor value now might beat getting no value later if Mesa ultimately goes out of business.

A few days ago, reports started circulating about issues with Mesa card purchases being declined. At least one reader reported that customer service had said that they were experiencing “processing delays” and were working on the issue. Sadly, it seems that they didn’t get the issue solved.
The email going out to cardholders today has the subject line, “URGENT NOTICE: Closure of Your Mesa Homeowners Card Account”. It looks like this.

Unfortunately, the email doesn’t provide any context in terms of the reason for account closure, so many cardholders naturally wondered why their account was shut down or thought it must have been an error.
Unfortunately, the messaging on the website confirms that this is not an error but rather a complete shut down of Mesa card accounts.
We’ve reached out to Mesa for comment and will update if they respond. At this point, it isn’t clear whether this is an issue with the Mesa rewards program/platform or the issuing bank or both.
At the time of writing, points can still be redeemed as a custom statement credit (fixed amounts are no longer available). See the screen shot below — the fixed values are greyed out, but custom amounts are still available.

You’ll only get 0.6c per point that way, which is a terrible value. However, if Mesa folds, getting 0.6c now might be better than getting 0.0c later.
To be clear, I don’t know that this is permanent. Maybe Mesa will pick back up, and transfers will become available again. Reports did indicate that Mesa had raised a significant amount of capital just a few months ago. However, given the abrupt nature of all account closures here, my first impression is that this doesn’t bode well. If I had Mesa points, I’d take the 0.6c right now.

As of 3:45PM EST I was only able to use the workaround method to reach the “Points Transfer” page but the continue button does not advance to the next step. I think they have blocked this on their end.
What’s they done, is it even legal?
I know it’s a different product, but transferring my Bilt points out, just in case they’re the next to fall.
This is flat out theft.
This probably does bode well for Bilt’s entry into mortgages. While leasors may have some incentive to use a rewards program, I don’t see how it makes sense for a mortgager to spend money on rewards, since it’s hard to see what benefit they would accrue from that (since any reward won’t sway decisions on the biggest purchase/investment in a person’s life). I’m no longer holding out hope.
Yeah I was thinking the same. Since Mesa’s leadership came from Bilt, Bilt’s investors have got to be taking a hard look at this unforetold immediate shutdown of Mesa and perhaps now giving mortgage rewards a pass? Mesa posted a 1k bonus offer this week to speak with one of their mortgage specialists. I thought ok (though it appears now wasted time & effort!) and the broker I spoke with really wasn’t of the level I would entrust my mortgage to.
I just saw this, and I’m hoping to transfer my points, but I can’t find where to do it. Where in the app should I go to?
READ THE COMMENT BELOW ABOUT THE BACK DOOR METHOD REPORTED ON DOCTOR OF CREDIT.
Make sure that when you reinstall the app, your WiFi and cellular are off, other than inputting password and code sent to your email. Use other device, eg computer to access that emailed code. Make sure your app screen stays active/your phone screen doesn’t turn off. When you get to rewards screen, turn on WiFi and tap through to redeem your rewards. Have your account number that you’re transferring to ready and the number of points you want to transfer. If you tap back, the app will update and you’ll have to redo the whole process. I transferred to my Aeroplan instantly.
DP – Got a transfer confirmation screen after transferring points to Omni using this URL:
https://app.mesamember.com/main/points-to-omni/transfer-confirmation
The credits do not show up on my Omni account yet nor did I receive a confirmation email
Tim to transfer to Omni after they launched the partnership. It took a few days.
Just to confirm, it actually went through for Tim?
Since yesterday, Omni has shown as “Coming Soon” on my app – how were you able to access? Your link only took me to the standard transfer page
Should’ve added that I did this on desktop. This is a screenshot of what I see clicking on that link even now:
https://imgur.com/IXaiylp
It’s the transfer page specifically for Omni
Anyone have any more program specific pages?
I tried fiddling with the URL for others with no luck. The URL was from the link Mesa sent back on December 2nd offering Omni Champion status with a transfer
Ok thanks Saul, I thought you were able to use the link yesterday, but Omni was dead as a transfer partner after I got the Mesa email
Ok thanks Saul, I thought you were able to use it yesterday after the dreadful email, but the Omni option was dead on my end.
Hmm, I’ve been tinkering also. I’ve found this page: https://app.mesamember.com/main/rewards/points-transfer which I can get to in the app but the continue button at the bottom doesn’t work – looks like it links to https://app.mesamember.com/main/rewards/points-transfer-interstitial but that just redirects to the same page. Anyone know JS? Here’s the source code… https://app.mesamember.com/_expo/static/js/web/entry-024f764c0c0f695bf28a5942ce45d03f.js
Maybe someone has a cached version of this? Not sure if it was altered in the last day.
DP – A poster on DoC has found a way to transfer points that is working at 11.55pm ET
Just worked for me – 60k points to ALL Accor immediate transfer
(huge WHEW)
Just worked for me!!! 111k to Aeroplan at 11:45 PST!! Thank heavens!!!!!!!!
6:30 am Eastern was still working.
Worked as of 8:28am ET. I would recommend using two devices – one for the Mesa app and the other to access email for the login verification code. Switching between the two on one phone did not work for me. Also would highly recommend selecting an instant transfer partner. Good luck!
An “airplane mode” fix worked for me at 8:45am EST! I used my husband’s phone and downloaded the app, put phone on airplane mode and shut off WiFi, opened the app, re-connected phone after 5 or so seconds, logged in, and the transfer options were back!!! I quickly transferred to Aeroplan, as I already had an account and didn’t want to mess anything up. The points posted immediately. Amazing! I thought they were gone forever.
Interesting… no email received as of 11:45pm 12/12/25
Me neither, but no option to cash out or transfer either
I guess Mesa wanted to make it in just under the wire for 2025’s Bonvoy’d awards
Citi’s fiasco with their CSE launch will be impossible to beat
Crazy to think that in a year where Southwest literally destroyed their entire airline brand they might actually have some competition.
BOA closing their Sonesta card stinks, too, for me cos I like niche programs. But goes to show between BOA and Citi it’s not just the small potatoes lenders who are having issues this year. I’m at least glad that Mesa only affected my number of inquiries but not showing as a new account on any 3 of the credit agencies. Earning a substantial number of Accor points with $0 AF, bonus spending cats I couldn’t do better elsewhere, and no ding to my 5/24 is a reasonable outcome (after my initial panic).
A good, old-fashioned BANK RUN, just like back during the Great Depression.
America made great again.
Just a little research would show you that Celtic Bank, who backs the Mesa card, is being sued left and right for various fraud allegations. Take a deep breath, it has nothing to do with Trump.
If you think this has nothing to do with Trump, try getting help from the Consumer Financial Protection Agency, which he disbanded. Banks and big corporations now think they Caaba operate with impunity.
If you are worried about getting rid of a program created by American Indian extraordinaire Liz Warren, won’t do me any good to say anything else. Well just leave it at that.
I don’t see the cash out option either. On the iPhone as well.
Glad I transferred my 100k points in anticipation of something happening.to this $hit show card
Hey Nick, I managed to get my points out to Aeroplan after getting the email.
On my phone, I have apps set to not auto-update. I started the forced update, which began downloading in the Play Store. Then i was able to get right back into the prior app version, which still had the points transfer available. I had never transferred out of Mesa before, but in about 60 seconds, I established the Aeroplan connection and transferred everything I could, which immediately posted to Aeroplan.
If anyone sees this and is in the same boat – please time this right and you could get your points out.
A real shame – with daycare spend + 50k sub, I was going to get ~125k annual points which equals 2 adults + 1 kiddo on SAS J.
Wow that’s quite a disaster for a lot of people. I thought the card was sort of wonky (but no more so than like the FNBO Amtrak card) – I didn’t know they’d fold overnight!
