$300 cash back after $1K spend with increased UPromise Mastercard offer

0

The UPromise World Mastercard is not usually top of mind for me, but if you are on the hunt for cash back, Barclays has increased the intro offer to $300 back after $1,000 in purchases in the first 90 days. The email we received billed this as a “limited-time offer”, though the fine print notes that the offer is valid through 3/17/26, so it is set to stick around for a while.

Quick Thoughts

The UPromise card doesn’t offer an industry-leading return on spend, though they do aim a smidge higher than some no-annual-fee cards on the market with the 1.529% back when your card is linked to a college savings account.

That said, the $300 bonus here is pretty low-hanging fruit for anyone primarily motivated by cash back. Furthermore, the card carries a monthly benefit for gift cards purchased from MyGiftCardsPlus.com. You can get up to $20 per month back when you spend $150+ (and $25 in November and December) for a total of up to $250 back per year, though it is a monthly coupon benefit. More info can be found here.

Overall, this isn’t a card that interests me as I prefer earning transferable points, but for someone looking to maximize all the cash back bonuses, it would make sense to get this card while the offer is elevated if it is of interest.
