Quick Thoughts

If you were planning on putting some spend on a Southwest card this year to help you earn a Companion Pass, this could be a great time to do it if you’re targeted for this spending offer. Getting 25% bonus Rapid Rewards points – provided you spend at least $3,000 by the end of March – is a decent offer, especially if that spend is occurring in bonus categories. It’s also beneficial for those seeking a Companion Pass as the 25% bonus points are also Companion Pass Qualifying points.

You can earn up to 20,000 bonus points, which means you’ll max it out when earning 80,000 initial points. Bear in mind that some Southwest cards have a spending cap on bonused categories, so you can’t, say, spend $40,000 at groceries stores on a Southwest Rapid Rewards® Premier Credit Card in order to earn 2x on all that spend as it’s capped at $8,000 in purchases each year combined with your dining spend.

Sadly, not all Southwest cardholders are targeted for this offer. If you click through to the registration page and don’t see a registration button, it means you’re not targeted.
