- MQDs may take 8 to 12 weeks after the eligible transaction posts to the Card Account to be posted to the Basic Card Member’s Delta SkyMiles account.
Quick Thoughts
Delta Platinum and Delta Platinum Business cardholders usually earn 1 Medallion Qualification Dollar (MQD) per $20 spent, so this targeted spending promotion doubles that to 2 MQDs per $20 spent. That effectively puts the MQD earning rate on a par (for every $20 spent) with the Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card and Delta SkyMiles® Reserve Business American Express Cards as those cards earn 1 MQD per $10 spent.
Note that this promotion isn’t awarding double SkyMiles on spend; it’s only Medallion Qualification Dollars which are required to earn SkyMiles elite status that are getting doubled. As a result, it’s up to you to decide whether this spending promotion will make it worth diverting spend to these cards as your personal circumstances will dictate a lot of that value.
One of the useful things about this promo is that there doesn’t appear to be a cap on the number of MQDs that’ll be doubled. If you’re able to run a lot of spend through your Delta Platinum and/or Delta Platinum Business card in the next three months, it could be nicely rewarding from a status perspective.

Wonder if these additional “bonus” MQDs count towards Delta’s Reclaim My Status… I wouldn’t think they wouldn’t count, but I’m not sure specifically for Reclaim My Status because I’ve been told that the MQD Headstart (from some of the Amex Delta cards) doesn’t actually count towards it though hard to confirm this so far.
