Capital One is offering a $400 bonus when you open a new 360 checking account and receive two direct deposits of $500 or more within 75 days of account opening. That’s quite an easy bonus to hit, and at $800 for those playing in two-player mode, it becomes even more attractive.
Unlike most Capital One 360 bonuses, this one appears to be targeted only to current Capital One customers. However, it sounds like most folks who have some sort of Capital One product are targeted when they log in to their account. Both my wife and I are.

Here’s the full scoop on how to earn your $400 bonus:
- New consumer checking customers open a 360 Checking account by 11:59 p.m. ET on May 19, 2026 using promo code GET400.
- Set up and receive at least 2 Qualifying Direct Deposits, each of $500 or more to your 360 Checking account within 75 days of account opening.
- Capital One will deposit the bonus into your account after the first two requirements listed above are completed. See below for when the bonus will be posted.
- What is a Qualifying Direct Deposit?
- A Qualifying Direct Deposit is a regular periodic payment, such as salary, pension, government payments (for example, Social Security), or other monthly income that occurs as an automated clearing house (ACH) or real-time payment network credit from your employer or an outside entity not affiliated with Capital One prior to Jan. 1, 2025.
Quick Thoughts
I think that any Capital One customer who uses the link above would qualify for the bonus. However, to be sure, log in to your Capital One account and select the “Open a new account” button in the “Explore other products” section that’s shown below:

Select “Checking and Savings,” then click the button to open a new 360 account. At the top of the application page, you should see this message showing you that the bonus has been applied:

This is a fairly easy bonus to earn on a checking account, especially given the $400 upside. While the terms require two direct deposits of $500 or more and state that ACH transfers will not count, data points show that the direct deposit requirements can be easy to meet through a variety of activities.
Nick has had a Capital One 360 account for many years and has frequently used it to meet direct deposit requirements at other banks, as ACH pushes from his 360 Checking account almost always trigger those requirements. The 360 Checking account has no fees or account minimums, so it has been very easy to keep the account open over the years.
There’s no early termination fee if you meet the promo terms, earn the bonus, and then decide you no longer want to keep the account. On the flip side, if you have or had an open 360 Checking, Simply Checking, or Total Control Checking account as a primary or secondary account holder with Capital One on or after January 1, 2024, you will be ineligible for the bonus.
Overall, this bonus looks like easy money. We like checking account bonuses with low requirements and often look at them in terms of the total being doubled if you’re in 2-player mode.
