Back in April, Alaska Airlines started running a series of quarterly award sale to different destinations. The sale for Q3 is now live and is giving up to 50% off when booking flights to cities including Rome, Athens, Taipei, Delhi and more.
The Deal
- Save up to 50% when booking award flights using Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan miles to the following destinations:

- Athens
- Muscat

Key Terms
- Global escapes pricing is offered on flights in Economy & Premium Economy class only. Travel has to originate in the US.
- Promo is valid on bookings July 10, 2024–July 31, 2024 for travel on October 1, 2024–January 31, 2025.
- Each award is subject to taxes and carrier-imposed fees starting from $5.60 per person, each way. These taxes and fees vary by itinerary and are based on trip origin and destination. The exact amount of taxes and carrier-imposed fees that will apply will appear when searching for a particular itinerary, and can start at $100 for international itineraries with select partners. For itineraries that include one (1) or more partner award segments, a $12.50 (USD) nonrefundable fee will be collected per person, each way.
- One (1) enroute stopover of up to 14 days is allowed per one-way on eligible international itineraries. On a roundtrip international itinerary two (2) stopovers are permitted with one (1) in each direction of travel.
- Lap infants are not permitted on international partner awards and will not be accepted for travel. Members will need to book seats at prevailing rates.
Quick Thoughts
Based on the searches I did, it seems like most of the discounted award pricing is – unsurprisingly – in economy. For example, here’s JFK to Taipei in October:
If you’re based on the west coast – or are happy to position there – and want to try out Starlux, that’s an option on some dates from LAX.
As you can see, one of the great things about these Alaska Airlines Global Getaways sales is that it’s not only flights on Alaska metal that are eligible – partner awards are what you’ll primarily come across.
If you want to head to Europe, I found premium economy to be a little more plentiful depending on your travel dates. For example, here’s LAX to Athens:
The problem with those options though is that you’d be flying British Airways and the high taxes and surcharges get passed on. If you can find a routing that avoids BA and/or the UK, things can look more attractive. For example, here’s JFK to Athens via Madrid on Iberia – the taxes are much, much more appealing than with BA.
This award sale is valid on flights from October 1, 2024 to January 31, 2025, but you only have until July 31, 2024 to book them.
