Bank of America has an improved welcome offer available for the Alaska Airlines Visa card that awards 65,000 Mileage Plan miles and a companion Fare when spending $3,000 in the first 90 days of card membership.
The current public (and affiliate) offer is 50,000 miles plus a $0 companion fare after the same $3K in minimum spend. Although the companion fare on this version costs $99, we felt that the additional 15,000 miles more than made up for it, so we’re using it on our Best Offers page.

Quick Thoughts
This is a very good offer, getting an extra 15,000 miles for the same spend as the primary public version is a much better opportunity.
In addition to the 65,000 bonus miles and Companion Fare, the card offers free checked bags for you and up to six other people on the same reservation, 20% off in-flight purchases, a 10% bonus on all earnings with a BOA checking account, 1 Elite Qualifying Mile per $3 spend, and no foreign transaction fees.
- 2/3/4 Rule: BOA will approve a maximum of 2 consumer cards per rolling 2 months, 3 per rolling 12 months, and 4 per rolling 24 months.
- 3/12 or 7/12 Rule: Similar to Chase's 5/24 rule, you may not be approved for a card if you have opened 3 or more accounts with any bank within the past 12 months. For those with Bank of America deposit accounts, the rule changes to 7 accounts in the past 12 months. Enforcement seems to vary.
- 24 Month Rule: With some BOA cards, you may have to wait 24 months after either opening or cancelling a card to be eligible for approval on that same card. This language varies from card to card and sometimes, applicant to applicant. Some business cards include language stating that you may be declined for additional credit card accounts if your business currently has, or has had, another BOA business card in the preceding 24 months. Again, enforcement seems to vary.
