Albertsons, Safeway and other stores that use the Just For U program released a couple of new digital coupons today which can give some very nice savings when buying Apple and Happy gift cards.
The Deals
- Earn 12x Reward Points when buying $50+ Apple gift cards
- Earn 10x Reward Points when buying $75+ Happy gift cards

Quick Thoughts
These are some excellent bonus rates, particularly for Apple gift cards. 12x points can be redeemed for savings of up to 30% on gas. That’s based on filling up with 25 gallons, so if you can refuel your vehicle(s) to that limit, that’s a great deal. Even if you can only fill up with 12.5 gallons, that’s still 15% you’d be saving based on your original gift card spend.
The Happy gift card deal is very good too as 10x means you can save up to 25% on gas. Even better is that both of these deals can be used as many times as you like during their respective promotion periods.
One of the nice features of the Just For U program is that you can redeem Reward Points for savings on groceries instead of – or in addition to – fuel. If you buy a $100 Apple gift card, you’ll earn 1,200 Reward Points, with each Reward costing 100 points. As a result, you’ll end up with enough points for 12 Rewards. You can redeem 7 Rewards for $10 off groceries and 5 Rewards for $7 off groceries. That means you’d save a total of $17 on groceries which is also a pretty good return. The only downside with that is that the Just For U program limits you to one redemption per month at those higher levels per account.
Note that you have to spend at least $50 on Apple gift cards to earn at the 12x rate and at least $75 on Happy gift cards to earn at the 10x rate.

What does “limit 1 per transaction” mean? Can I buy one, then go back in line and buy another, and then another, etc?
To be honest, I’m not entirely sure. In the past I’d taken it to mean that you’d only earn 12x on one gift card per transaction, but I’ve seen data points saying you can earn on more than one gift card per transaction even when it says limit 1 per transaction on an unlimited coupon like this.
no need to go back in line; simply pay for each gc separately using the same j4u acct for addl reward pts or use a different j4u acct if having one
The gift card value can easily be added to an Apple Account / Apple ID Balance and used online to purchase hardware through apple.com, or through the Apple Store app, or for Apple subscriptions.
After purchase I add the card to my account in the Safeway parking lot, then throw the used card away, same as Amazon. It’s very convenient.

Yes, that changed in recent months and so you can now use old iTunes and new Apple gift cards for Apple products.
