I don’t have a Citi ThankYou card, so Greg kindly went through the process of registering for the offer and seeing what was involved. Here are the steps that he recommended to get the offer to work:
- Register a ThankYou card with Amazon if you haven’t previously. Make sure to decline using points automatically.
- Setup that card as your one-click settings card (not necessary but helpful).
- Put $100 or more in the cart and go to checkout.
- If you haven’t done step 2 (above), select your ThankYou card as the payment option
- On the checkout screen:
- First apply full points to the order. In this example, apply $100 worth of points
- Next enter promo code CITITURKEY5 into the “Add a gift card or promotion code” box
- Next change the amount of points applied to just 1 cent (as shown in the image above)

Can’t get this to work. There was a $50 “clip to use” coupon on the item I’m trying to purchase… could that be the issue? After applying points to pay for the full amount due I enter the code, click Apply, and immediately get an error below the gift card/promo code box saying “The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase”
That might be the reason, but I’m not sure. Have you tried testing the code on a different item to see if it works with that?
Just tried it again. Removed the item from my cart, put something else in and did the same thing (apply points to pay full amount then enter code)… got the same error message. I’m using a linked Prestige card and have plenty of ThankYou points to cover the purchase. Weird.
You might need to remove your card, do step 1, wait 24 hours, then try doing the rest of the steps. I’m not certain if that’ll work, but it’s apparently been working in some cases with the Amex & Chase deals.
Seems it’s over… it used to say code can’t be applied… waited 24 hours and now it says promo code has been expired. meaning number of redemption has reached the limit.
