(Targeted) American Airlines promo: Earn 100 miles for registering, up to 2K more miles for qualifying activity

American Airlines is running a promotion that awards 100 bonus miles free just for registering, along with the ability to earn up to 2,000 more bonus miles for qualifying activity.

The Deal

• Earn 100 bonus AAdvantage miles when registering for an American Airlines promotion, then earn:
  • 500 bonus miles for each of the following activities:
    • Shop through the American Airlines shopping portal
    • Dine with participating AAdvantage Dining restaurants
    • Buy tickets through AAdvantage Events
  • Earn an additional 1,000 bonus miles when completing at least two of the above activities
• Direct link to offer.

Key Terms

• You must register by 11:59 p.m. CT on Dec. 31, 2025. Upon registration, 100 bonus miles will be deposited into your AAdvantage account. No additional action is required for the registration bonus.
• Shop with AAdvantage eShopping stores, dine with participating AAdvantage Dining restaurants, or buy tickets through the AAdvantage Events platform by Feb. 28, 2026, to earn 500 bonus miles per activity, with a maximum of 1,000 total bonus miles.
• If requirements for any 2 of the 3 activities are completed, 1,000 additional bonus miles will be deposited into your AAdvantage account.
• Your partner transactions must be made by 11:59 p.m. CT on Feb. 28, 2026, to count toward this promotion. Transactions completed or posted before registration aren’t eligible.
• Please allow up to 14 days from the time your qualifying activity posts to your account for bonus miles to be deposited.
• Bonus miles don’t count toward status qualification or AAdvantage Million Miler status.

Quick Thoughts

This could be a useful way to give your American Airlines AAdvantage account a little boost as the requirements are fairly easy. Earning 100 bonus miles just for registering isn’t a massive reward, but it will extend the expiration date of your existing miles.

Earning 500 bonus miles for shopping through American’s shopping portal or using their dining program shouldn’t be too hard. Do both and you’ll not only earn 1,000 miles (500 for each), but you’ll also trigger the additional 1,000 bonus miles for a total of 2,100 miles when including the registration bonus.

Booking tickets through AAdvantage Events is also a qualifying activity, but that doesn’t tend to offer very good value, so if you’re looking to game this promotion, the shopping portal and dining program will be the lowest hanging fruit.

To register for the promotion, go to the Promotions tab of your AAdvantage account (there’s a link above in ‘The Deal’ section. You should see a promotion with the heading ‘Start the new year with AAdvantage bonus miles.’ Click on ‘Registration Details’ and then click the ‘Register’ button on the window that pops up.

Update: Based on comments below, this promotion appears to be targeted in a couple of different ways. Some AAdvantage members don’t have any offer at all on their accounts, while others have a different kind of offer. If you are targeted, it’s therefore worth verifying the terms of the deal in case it’s different to the offers my wife and I received.
