The Deal
- Both American Airlines AAdvantage eShopping and United Mileage Plus shopping are offering the following bonuses on purchases made through their respective shopping portals between 1/11/21 and 1/19/21:
- Spend $150: Get 500 bonus miles
- sPEND $300: Get 1,000 bonus miles

Key Terms
- One-time bonus award will be determined based on Member’s cumulative qualifying purchases made during the Bonus Period using one of the following tiers:
- Tier 1 bonus: 500 miles for qualifying purchases of at least $150; or
- Tier 2 bonus: 1,000 miles for qualifying purchases of $300 or more.
- “Qualifying purchases” do not include returns, cancellations, shipping and handling, taxes, gift card or other cash equivalent purchases, and certain products that are not eligible for bonus miles.

Quick Thoughts
Always take bonuses like these into consideration when comparing portal payouts from one portal to another. These bonuses work out to a little better than 3 miles per dollar spent if you’re able to hit the nail on the head for the purchase requirements, which isn’t enough to get me to make a purchase just for the bonus but certainly might make these portals more attractive when comparing for an impending purchase.
