Quick Thoughts
There are several new Amex Offers out today that offer opportunities for sizable savings. This post includes several that seem particularly notable, but check your account for other offers that may be of interest.
Dell.com: Spend $100 or more, get $50 back
Enroll by 10/13/23; offer expires 10/18/23.
I found this offer even on Business Platinum cards that already have a Dell statement credit benefit, so this could make for a great stack. Keep in mind that Amex typically doesn’t seem to like it if you end up getting more in statement credit than the total cost of your purchase, so I would recommend spending $250 or more if you’re using a card that already has a $200 statement credit benefit. Keep in mind that you can also go through a shopping portal to stack additional savings.
Hilton: Spend $200 or more, get $80 back
Enroll by 10/13/23; offer expires 12/31/23
This offer is only valid at Curio Collection by Hilton, Canopy by Hilton, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, Motto by Hilton, and Tempo by Hilton properties in the US and US territories. That sort of limits the utility of the offer, but you do have until the end of the year to use it provided that you sync it up this week.
Hertz: Spend $200 or more, get $60 back
Enroll by 10/13/23; offer expires 11/8/23
The Hertz offer is only valid for rentals picked up and dropped off at corporate-owned locations, so you’ll need to avoid the small franchise locations. It also says that it is not valid on bookings made through third parties, though I imagine that in practice a reservation made through a site like Priceline that isn’t paid in advance but rather at the Hertz location will probably work (assuming it is a corporate-owned location). A prepaid rental made through a third party probably won’t work.
Lowe’s (in-store and online): Spend $200 or more, get $50 back
Enroll by 10/13/23; offer expires 10/18/23
This offer is pretty straightforward in that it is valid both in-store and online at Lowes.com. As usual, stuff like LowesforPros.com is excluded. This offer should be very easy to use given that Lowe’s sells a wide range of gift-cards in-store.
Any creative suggestions on using the Resy offer?
Just spent $200 at Lowes in gift cards. The $100 Uber gift card did not activate so I had to go back to the store and their only solution was to refund the $100. This is the second time a bought an Uber card at Lowes that did not activate. I was notified that I had used the offer before the refund. Can I make another $200 purchase and get the rebate or will AMEX consider the first purchase for the offer? Anyone else have issues with Uber cards at Lowes?
Can the hertz discount be automatically applied to bail when Hertz has me arrested?
Can you use the Dell $50 back on $100 spend more than once per card?
Hey Nick, if you use $100 AmEx on your biz platinum now, can you get $100 more on another purchase by the end of the year? Or is it only “up to $200 on just one purchase” in those 6 months?
TY!
You mean the Dell credits on the BizPlat? Those can be used on separate purchases.
Yup re: Dell credit on BizPlat. Thanks Nick!
Of *course* I don’t have the Lowe’s offer.
How did they find out I worked for Home Depot corporate?
I think that offer may just have filled up. I forgot to sync it up yesterday and I don’t see it anymore, either.
Thanks, got the Lowes offer (50off200) only in hilton biz and went in store to get a $200 amazon gift card. Got the amex e-mail right away after purchase!
Anyone knows how to make purchase and bypassing blacklisted? I can’t even buy a $20 mouse. Dell cancelled immediately. Spent 2 hours with many different Dell departments and 2 resolutions – either join their Partner Program to make multiple purchases or use different card&address.
For the Lowe’s offer, I thought Amex won’t like it if I buy a gift card?
A single $200 gift card purchase is highly unlikely to get noticed. If you go and buy $2,000 in gift cards six times this week, that may be a problem, but I wouldn’t be concerned at all about a single $200 gift card purchase.
Even visa gift cards? Or just 3rd party?
Sure. I mean, I’ve also bought thousands on Amex cards when Lowe’s has run the $15 Lowe’s GC with a $200 VGC and not had an issue, but you are more likely to have an issue with large quantity purchases. A single $200 purchase is highly unlikely to be noticed.
Does it work to buy a gift card at the front desk of a participating Hilton hotel and redeem it for a stay at a nonparticipating Hilton property?
I’ve never heard of or seen a Hilton gift card….at least until I just now decided to Google it to see if anything had changed. I see there is a website like buyhiltongiftcards dot com. It looks legit enough, but again I’ve never actually seen one. A couple of individual properties that mention Hilton gift cards on their websites link to the “buy points” page at Hilton.com. One property also linked to the buyhiltongiftcards website, so I assume it is real. But that won’t help you with this offer.
I don’t think you can buy them at a Hilton hotel.
Too bad. Thanks for the research!
I bought physical gift card at the Boca Raton hotel in Florida before.
I booked the Diplomat Beach Resort in Hollywood FL for the weekend with the Plat and will get the $80 so my question is can I have them charge the room rate to the Plat and have them charge everything else on the Aspire card for the resort credit?
Yes, I assuming that’s on the list of qualifying resorts for the Aspire credit, then that should be fine.
Too bad – didn’t get the Lowe’s offer. That Hilton offer is pretty bad – only some of the hotels in the Hilton family….
Dell with Rakuten for 12% today too nice little stacking
Doh! I just ordered and forgot to check portals. Be like Sky T everyone; don’t be like me!
Hertz deak ends Nov. 8?
Correct. I have a Hertz rental ending on Nov 18, so I got a little bit excited when I read this thinking maybe I misread my offer earlier this morning. But nope, just a typo.
Yes. Thanks, fixed that typo.
