Quick Thoughts
The United promotion gets more generous the more you spend, offering 2x, 3.33x or 4x bonus miles if you spend exactly $50, $150 or $300 respectively. American’s offer is strange, though. The better spend bonus is on the lower $50 threshold because you’ll earn 8x (400 bonus miles) as opposed to the $500 threshold which only earns 4x (2000 bonus miles).
The American shopping portal promotion only gives you a week-ish to hit the spending thresholds, but it’s nice to see that the United offer gives you two weeks. Be aware that you don’t earn a corresponding number of Loyalty Points for the bonus miles earned through this kind of promotion (although you will earn miles on the base spends).
These offers are a nice bonus, but they aren’t world-beating. Be sure to compare portal rates on Cashback Monitor before committing to either of these.

I think you meant:
“The better spend bonus is on the lower $50 threshold because you’ll earn 8x (400 bonus miles) as opposed to the $500 threshold which only earns ***4x*** (2000 bonus miles).”
I know It says gift cards are not eligible – but any reason to think that giftcardmall.com might work? It’s on the portal as 3x – and that’s all they sell.
It worked for me in the last promotion
worked for me last promotion also
Yes, it should work with GCM (and Raise).
