Another day, another targeted welcome offer from Amex. Yesterday, my wife and I both found a very good offer for the Blue Business Plus card on our accounts. Today, she has a shiny, new welcome offer for the Business Gold on her account as well. It’s a significant improvement on the standard offer and does not include AMEX’s once-in-a-lifetime language (NLL).
The Offer
Earn 90,000 Membership Rewards points after $10,000 spend on a new Business Gold card within the first three months. Get an additional 5,000 points by adding an employee card and spending $1,000 within the first three months. This offer has expired- The $1,000 of spend on the employee card goes towards the $10K max
- There’s no once-in-a-lifetime language associated with this offer.

Quick Thoughts
This is the same targeted offer that Amex has been sending out periodically over the last few months, which offers an increased 90K bonus as well as an additional 5K for adding an authorized user and spending $1,000 on the “employee” card. This is definitely a nice welcome offer with reasonable spend and not having once-in-a-lifetime language makes it very appealing. These offers almost always come with no hard-pull, but YMMV.
There used to be common reports over the last couple of years of Business Gold customers getting 100K upgrade offers to the Business Platinum, but I haven’t heard of one in quite a while.
Beware Amex apparently stopped considering tax payments as qualifying spend for SUP.
A little bizarre. Got targeted, applied, pending. A day letter said in online letter that I already got this kind of card “in the last couple of months” so they cancelled the application. Which is totally true, I got another targeted offer 2 months ago, applied and approved. Ok, but why target me again and then no go? This is a first.
I actually have this offer, but not sure it’s really worth it. I personally value these points at 1c, so it’s $900, since $50 fee to add a user. The categories don’t excite me, because $10,000 spend in 3 months means giving a lot of money to charity. $250 annual fee. So $650 for 10K spend basically unless I’m missing something. I guess the hope of getting targetted to upgrade it is something to consider.
If you only value them at 1 cpp, then I agree that this isn’t really worth it. You’re better off applying for one of the Ink cards if you are under 5/24.
I personally value MR points at closer to 2cpp to that’s worth it to me. Flying Blue is a great partner to get value from if you want to travel to Europe. I’ve also done well booking non stop, domestic AA flights with British Airways.
Adding an employee green card is free.
$950 + $100 ($10k * 1 point = 10k MR) – $250 fee = $800 for 10k spend
DP: I just upgraded my Business Gold to Business Platinum for 130k points. P1 and P2 also have these current Business Gold offers in our accounts for a couple of months now.
Any ideas as to how to get targeted for these? Every single elevated business platinum, business gold, and BBP offer you all have shared all year I have not been targeted for. I already have 1 of each.
Question: I’ve never had the Gold Biz card and have had that offer in the app for a long time. (I haven’t recently gotten any Amex card cause of pop-up jail but that’s another issue). Will getting this NLL card disqualify me from getting the regular bonus with lifetime language? Thanks
yes
Thanks
I received a targeted upgrade offer on my Gold Business a few months back to the Business Platinum for 140k MR points for $10k in spend in 3 months. I was also targeted for this offer. I thought I could be a data point.
Same for me. Still working on my bonus for the 140K MR on the biz plat, and have been targeted for this Biz Gold offer as well.
