Amex Airfare Offer
American Express has released a brand new offer giving a $75 statement credit with a $300 or more purchase from any airline by 9/15/15. This offer seems to be highly targeted and I was not able to find it on any of my accounts.
Key Terms
- Offer valid only to eligible US Card Members for purchases made directly with passenger airlines.
- The following do not count as qualifying purchases and are excluded from the offer: (i) Charter flights and private jet flights; (ii) any flight purchased as part of a vacation package or through a third party (including agents for travel suppliers); (iii) Sky Mall purchases and (iv) Boingo wireless internet purchases.
- When you make a qualifying purchase in a foreign currency, the applicable statement credit will be credited in your local currency using the exchange rate at the date the statement credit is applied.
Amex Travel Offer
There is also a second offer giving a $100 statement credit with a $600 or more hotel booking at AmexTravel.com by 9/30/15. This offer seems to be much more widely available and I was able to find it on almost all of my accounts.
Loading Both Offers
Both of these offers are only available via the “Offers for You” tab on the American Express website. As of this time there is no way to load them via Twitter or other social media channels.

A couple of people have asked whether gift cards will qualify. Do we have any data points yet? I’ll probably give it a shot if nobody knows.

Does giftcards through AA qualify? I’m getting mixed messages from Amex and American folks, as gift cards are ordered through giftcards.aa.com which is slightly different from aa.com.

I got the $50 off $300 on my SPG Personal, but not SPG Business, Everyday, or Business Gold.

Got the $50/$300. I will go directly to AA for a gc.
None of my cards got the 75/300 offer, and only 2 cards got the 100/600 one. I have BCP, OBC, HH cards.
Didn’t get that one but got $75 off $250 for some retailers including Staples and Home Depot (up to 5 credits)….I guess I can get some GCs and still get the credit 🙂
I got that one too ($75 off $250 @Staples)…doesn’t seem to exclude GCs. Has anyone tried it yet? I’m heading there tomorrow to stock up.
Oh yea regarding clawbacks…I’ve had mixed results on Amex offers: Kohl’s….ordered muliple times and ended up returning half (fit issues) and the credits stuck. Then booked two hilton rooms in orlando that required one nights deposit each and received amex credit. When I later cancelled rooms the credits were clawed back fairly quickly.
Got $600/$100 back offer on OBC
Got $300/$50 back offer on OBC
Did not get any of above on SPG Biz or DL Biz.
Between hubby and I:
got 3x 50/300 airfare (2 x hilton amex and 1x blue cash preferred) all on primary accounts.
Does anyone think Southwest giftcards will trigger credit?

I guess the most obvious question is does Amex claw back credits if the purchase is later refunded? It seems like the obvious thing to do here is buy refundable tickets and get a refund once the credit posts.
