There’s a new targeted Amex Offer out for Uber: Spend $15+, get $10 back. That’s a nice offer on its own, but it might also make for a good stack with the Uber Cash discount, which provides up to 5% off. If the stack works, you could buy $100 in Uber credit for $85. That’s not amazing, but not bad.
The Deal
- A new targeted Amex Offer for Uber is available for some cardholders: Spend $15+, get $10 back (see your Amex login to see if you are targeted)
Key Terms
- Valid for transactions with the Uber mobile app, Uber Eats, and uber.com
- Not valid for international rides
- Excludes gift cards and Uber Bike transactions (but perhaps not Uber Cash?)
- Expires 3/31/19
Quick Thoughts
This looks like a pretty good deal in terms of getting a nice chunk back on a longer Uber ride (or on a couple of rides). I expect it would work when loading Uber Cash to your account despite the fact that the terms exclude gift cards (but YMMV). That means you could theoretically buy $25 in Uber Cash for $14.50, $50 in Uber Cash for $38.50, or $100 in Uber cash for $85 after this $10 statement credit. See our previous post for more information on the Uber Cash discount.
Stacking this isn’t bad if you were already loading your Uber Cash balance, though it’s worth noting that Uber gift cards go on sale at a 20% discount often enough that you can probably do better if you don’t need the Uber Cash now.
Alternatively, if you’re looking to order some food via Uber Eats right now, you may as well stack a little extra savings via this offer.

So what’s the verdict? Do cash reload trigger the Amex offer?
I did not receive an email when I just did this – and it coded as “Uber Cash” so answer is likely a no. @Nick Reyes
Didn’t work for me
I tried this in the last AmEx offer. It initially looked like it was going to credit, but then did not. Starbucks reload done at the same time with a similar offer, however, did credit for the SBUX offer.
