Frequent Miler's latest team challenge, Million Mile Madness, is happening now! Follow us as Greg, Nick, and Stephen compete to earn 1 Million SAS miles by flying 15 airlines before November 23rd. Who will complete the challenge with the most Speed, Affordability, and Style?
The Deal:
Round trip business class fares from Los Angeles to Changsha, China for $1788. Other cities may be available. For example, I see some dates from Chicago (ORD) to Changsha (CSX) via Beijing for about $1900.
Why It’s Hot:
Great price for round trip business class to China. Additionally, these “R” class fares earn 200% Alaska MileagePlan miles when credited to Alaska, meaning that the round trip flight should earn 28,000 Alaska redeemable (and elite-qualifying) miles before any status bonuses. If you have, for example, status matched a Southwest Companion Pass to Alaska MVP Gold, you would earn an additional ~14,000 miles for a total of 42,000 miles.
Restrictions:
Hainan only runs two flights a week from LAX, so while availability is throughout the spring, summer, and fall, the number of flight options each week are limited. Check dates through Google Flights or ITA Matrix and then book where you wish.

Great posting. How can I get onto your mailing list?
Thanks.
How much does it cost to change the ticket? I want to book now but my schedule is not fixed yet.
I’m not sure, but that should be included in the fare rules under a heading like “penalties” or “changes”.
I matched my status from AA Exec Plat to Alaska MVP Gold 75k, so I believe I’d get 49,000 Alaska miles from this deal. With the AmEx Biz Plat, very tempting. Wish it was to somewhere other than China.
Well, there have been a lot of great business class offers to various markets over the past year. I’ll keep my eye out for other deals and certainly work to post the best ones :).
Great deal, thanks for posting. And even better through Amex for those with the Biz Platinum. I hasn’t thought about using MR points for these cheap Biz fares, but I’ll be paying more attention to them from now on.
