- Maximum of three $15 promotional savings codes per customer.
- May be redeemed online and in store.
Quick Thoughts
This deal is always popular because it’s an easy way to rack up $450 of spend. Once you receive the savings codes, you should be able to use those to buy gift cards that won’t expire, effectively meaning that you’re getting a 10% bonus. That can make this profitable for reselling for some people, or it’s just a good bonus for purchases you might already be making at Best Buy.
Be sure to note the limited redemption dates of the savings codes though – February 2-15. The nice thing is that they’re emailed to you, so you don’t have to remember to log in to your Best Buy account to obtain them. Having said that, it’s probably worth setting up a reminder for February 2 in case they end up in your spam folder.
Something else important to note is that payments are processed by CashStar. You therefore won’t earn more by paying with a card that would normally earn more at Best Buy (e.g. the Citi Dividend card which is earning 5% for Q4).
Am I reading this right? We can use BB gift cards to buy other BB gift cards? Can we use BB gift cards to buy other merchant gift cards like Amazon?
Yes, provided the savings codes work in the same way as in the past, you should be able to buy Best Buy or third party gift cards in-store with them.
I believe Best Buy changed that around May 2018.

Does it still work for you?
From the Best Buy Gift Cards Frequently Asked Questions:
“Can I use my Best Buy gift card to purchase prepaid open-loop and third-party gift cards?
No. Best Buy gift cards cannot be used to purchase prepaid open-loop cards and third party gift cards (including iTunes, Google Play, gaming or any other prepaid gift cards or codes).”
They state that, but in reality it’s still been possible.
Thanks Stephen.
Can you use PayPal via CashStar?
I’m not too sure – I already did this promo last night and didn’t pay attention to what other payment options were there. Does PayPal appear when you try checking out? If not, that’d suggest you can’t use it.
