Hilton has come out with a promotion that does good in two ways – it helps us buy their points on the cheap while also helping ensure as many people as possible can get vaccinated.
The Deal
- Link your Hilton Honors and Lyft accounts at HiltonHonorsLyft.com and then donate $5+ at lyft.com/vaccine-access to earn 2,000 Hilton Honors points.
Key Terms
- Expires May 31, 2021.
Quick Thoughts
This is a great initiative by Hilton and Lyft which is a win-win for all involved (well, win-win-win-win if you count Hilton, Lyft, us and people being vaccinated).
For us, getting to earn 2,000 bonus points by donating at least $5 means you’re buying Hilton points for as low as 0.25cpp which is half the rate they normally charge during a 100% bonus points promotion.
Your donation is then used in the following way:
Lyft’s Vaccine Access initiative benefits low-income, uninsured and at-risk communities across the country by providing access to rides to COVID-19 vaccination clinics, with the goal of providing access to 60 million rides. Funds contributed for these rides will provide access to vaccine transportation in the form of Lyft ride credits provided through national and local non-profit partners.
Buying points on the cheap while helping ensure people can get vaccinated against COVID – it doesn’t get much better than that. Except it does, because Hilton will also be matching donations up to $50,000. We benefit, others benefit, and Hilton and Lyft get some good PR out of this, hence the win-win-win-win.
Don’t forget that Hilton’s partnership with Lyft also awards 3 bonus Hilton Honors points per dollar on Lyft rides, or 2 bonus points per dollar on shared Lyft rides. You can read more about this partnership in our post we published when it first launched a couple of years ago.
You can also get free Lyft Pink membership with the Chase Sapphire Reserve card which in turn can be turned into a free Grubhub+ membership which offers a free $10 meal each month. Update: It looks like the $10 free monthly meal for pickup orders is only in certain markets (probably large cities).
Don’t waste your time with this. Been a week and no HH points awarded but my regular Lyft ride HH points were awarded since.
Just donated $5, how do I know if I successfully receive the 2000 HH points? So far I’m seeing nothing after linking and donating.
I’m not too sure as it doesn’t say how soon the points will be awarded.
And you can pool points for up to 10 people with Hilton, right?
Yep!
Plus 50 UR and $5 tax deduction!
Not tax-deductible
Where is this free $10 meal a month benefit for Grubhub+ ?
Ah, it looks like it’s only in certain areas (likely big cities). I hadn’t realized that, so I’ll update the post.
I got in on $20 earlier this year, but it never showed up with my Pink link, so I had to pay for it, which is fine with my Gold credit. Any idea which markets get the free $10 with Pink?
No idea I’m afraid. I’d guess it’d be the usual suspects like New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, etc., but I could be wrong.
Does the linking of a Lyft account to Hilton replace any existing relationship earning opportunities with a currently linked partner partner like Delta or CSR?
My understanding is that it doesn’t, but I’ve never tested it out as I haven’t taken a Lyft ride before.
It doesn’t. I earn both Hilton and Delta rewards with Lyft rides, in addition to the 10x UR points with CSR.
According to this post on the Lyft blog, we should also get 250 Delta SkyMiles (if we’re in the first 15K to donate) and Chase is paying 10X UR points on Sapphire/Ink/Freedom cards used to donate. It’s a $5 trifecta!
