Chase has sent out a new email today reminding people of a promotion we previously posted here: Chase Pay promos: Extra points / cash back at ShopRite & beyond. Since the title of that post wasn’t clear enough for some folks and it looks like the end date has now been extended to 12/31, it seemed worth a re-post to make people aware that they can earn 1500 bonus points with a Chase Sapphire or Freedom card this quarter (which is a separate promotion from the Shop Rite offer).
The Deal
- Use Chase Pay 5 times for a minimum purchase of $25 each time by 12/31/18 with your Chase Freedom or Sapphire card (any flavor should work) and earn 1500 bonus Ultimate Rewards points
Key Terms
- Valid in-store and online (varies by retailer)
- When paying in-store, Doctor of Credit reports that you must use the QR code in the Chase Pay app for it to work (i.e. it might not work with Samsung Pay).
- Valid through 12/31/18
Quick Thoughts
This does not appear to be a new promotion but rather an extension of the promotion that was originally scheduled to end 10/31. I expect that you can do this once per eligible card — i.e. if you have the Chase Sapphire Preferred and Freedom Unlimited, I expect you can do this promotion once on each card (though I haven’t tested it — if anyone does get a result on that, please let us know in the comments).
Note that some retailers accept Chase Pay in-store only, but some are in-store and online. If you’re a Starbucks regular, you might want to stack with this offer to pick up some free items at Starbucks and 1500 extra points on top.

[…] help (see the video below). Since Chase Pay is a Chase Freedom Q4 5x category and there is also a bonus for Sapphire or Freedom Unlimited cardholders to earn an extra 1500 Ultimate Rewards points with 5 purchases of $25 or more through Chase Pay, I thought it was worth highlighting how […]
I never shop at Walmart, but made an exception specifically for this promotion. I used Chase Pay online; it only registers as “Walmart,” not as Chase Pay. Chase CSR through a secure message is telling me online orders don’t count, and that only QR code payments in store qualify. This is obvious bullshit, as my gas purchase through the Phillips app counted just fine. Buyer beware.
Hmm — did you check out via Chase Pay, or just use your Chase card and use Walmart’s checkout? If you did the latter, that’s why it didn’t work.
To use Chase Pay at Walmart.com, you have to choose it as your payment method during checkout (which will then prompt you to log into your Chase.com account to pay. You won’t have to physically enter your payment details since Chase has that info.
Here’s a link to more info on Walmart.com. See the first question:

Nope, I specifically clicked on Chase Pay at checkout. Then (I think) it asked me to log in to Chase Pay, and I did. And then it asked me to select which card. I never had to type in my card info; it knew what I had. If I hadn’t seen the Chase Pay logo at checkout, I would have gone elsewhere.
Chase Pay @ Walmart stores doesn’t work directly via Chasepay app. It has to be linked via Walmart Pay. I tried paying through it at a store the other day and although the register showed Walmart pay is connected and as the next step the store associate needed to do something, she never was able to get it to work and complete the payment. Either the associate had no clue or it doesn’t work. Long story short whether I couldn’t say for sure if Chase pay @ Walmart stores qualify for the promotion as its not how ChasePay works at other places. May be someone else gets lucky and can confirm it.
The original deal for the 1500 points has the same end date of 12/31/18.
“This offer is valid from 10/01/2018 through 12/31/2018. To qualify for this offer, you must make 5 transactions using your consumer Chase Sapphire Preferred card with your Chase Pay account during checkout. Purchases are when you, or an authorized user, use a card to make purchases of products and services, minus returns or refunds. Please allow up to 8 weeks after the qualifying purchase(s) post(s) to your account for the bonus points to post to your credit card account. To receive the bonus points, your credit card or the checking account tied to your debit card must be open and your credit card must not be in default at the time of fulfillment. If you change your credit card product during the promotional period you will forfeit this offer. This offer is non-transferable. Limit one offer per customer or card account. Chase may terminate this offer at any time without notice.”
Is this targeted offer? If no email then no deal?
Somehow I hadn’t registered for the 5% Bonus until just now. I also do not have the 1500 UR Offer in my email. So is this automatic? Or is it possible I won’t get it (since I didn’t receive the email)?
Does Pricerite count as a store eligible for this promotion? I think they are owned by Shoprite.
Do they take Chase Pay?
yes they do
Then yes.
Stacking with Starbucks would be awesome. But I only have Ink and CSR.
CSR should work.
the other offer is starbucks reload with $20, this one seems to exclude reload?
I will load $25 to test it.
Its says 20 or more and 20+, going back to the offer so should be good. Like you I loaded $25 just before, after loading only $20 yesterday. Hope it stacks.
